The information about new data from Census 2010.

I'm wondering when the heck they will add Lawrence County to the MSA. That would put the MSA at 475,000. BTW Springfield city proper is now at 159,498. This may seem like a small gain over 10 years but more importantly the city gained the majority of the 7,500 people from 2006-2010, so the gains are picking up year after year. The Branson CSA is also gaining more than thought. The Branson Micro MSA is over 83,000 now. If Springfield and Branson are designated a CSA it would be over 520,000.

BTW its good to hear from you Pyaxi! How have you been?

View information on projects and add your own in our new Project Database: [Link]

Was Missouri ever southern?

http://www.urbanplanet.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=21579&view=findpost&p=1134397

I had ancestors on both sides of the war. The area I live would probably be considered southern in some aspects. For example, people generally associate the hunting and farming with more southern attributes, but of course that goes on the in north, too.

People from the bootheel sound very much southern. Once you get south of Poplar Bluff the accent really changes.

From my understanding, the Missouri government was under Union control during the war, but some of the southern areas had plenty of Confederates as well.

View information on projects and add your own in our new Project Database: [Link]

600,000, interesting concept. Springfield-Branson-Lebanon sound funny. My old friend live at Rogersville, told me that west of 125 Hwy would become giant park, several people donated their park to Greene County, but actually I'm pretty sure it would become part of Springfield because Greene County doesn't have administration for park. But don't take it serious, it's just a rumor at all such as like Disney at Nesho.

After adding up the the Springfield MSA and the Branson & Lebanon MSA's, the population would come to over 565,000. But who knows... Maybe once the 2010 numbers are in we will have over 600,000!! Plus I spoke with a census rep. last month when they came into my complex and he told me that Springfield will very likely form a Combined Statisticle Area, or CSA, with Branson and Lebanon Micropolitan Area's.
I made my first trip to downtown Kansas City since the Power and Light District was finished- WOW! That area has turned out to be a beehive of activity and a lot of fun. Between the public facilities that were already in place and the new ones there is room for a half dozen major events to occur at the same time. The new Sprint Center is the place for major concerts and sporting events while Bartle Hall and the Municipal Auditorium do well for expos and smaller events. Midland Theater is still the grande dame of concert halls and an expectionally beautiful building inside. Here's a few photos all from the P&L District area.
1. Here's the AMC Mainstreet Theater- a well restored buiding and an outstanding movie-going experience.
2. The modern buildings that make up the heart of Kansas City's downtown, from the district.
3. The Sprint Center that amazingly fits right into the area.

Here's a few downtown photos from a trip to Springfield. The first is the Hammons Tower at 22 stories and on a high spot. It really dominates the skyline and is set away from the historic downtown area as are most of the newer buildings downtown. This is what you see when you walk out the main entrance of Hammons Field.

These are two historic structures on Walnut Street immediately off of the new downtown area- very beautiful buildings.

These are some more of the newer tall buidldings downtown - right to left the Hammons Building (not to be confused with the Hammons Tower and all the other things named Hammons in Springfield- ) Park Place condos and Sunvilla Tower on the Missouri State University campus.

Street mural in the older part of downtown- a funky place with lots of history and potential. There have been some notable improvements in that area but there's a lot more that could be done.

You beat me to it. I'm gonna go ahead and make this its own topic since a large enough development. I noticed the article about this in the Springfield Business Journal. I don't think the Houlihan's will be 70,000 sqf. thats the size of the entire lot it sits on. That would be bigger than the Circuit City store.

I found this pdf file that has the layout of the site, but I don't know how to copy the photo and paste it on here from adobe.

Here it is: http://www.loopnet.com/Attachments/6/A/7/6...2021166957C.pdf

View information on projects and add your own in our new Project Database: [Link]

I found an old sketch plan for Shoppes at James River, it was created last year ago. The Hilton Hotel should be on east side.

I know there somewhere post have already talk about Republic & Glenstone Development. I thought I would give update about it.

The Shoppes at James River

South of Republic and Glenstone

14.5-acres

Hilton Garden Inn: 140,000-square-foot, five-story... the location will be on east of side.

Springfield's second Houlihan's restaurant: 70,000-square-foot building... the location will be on west of side.

I'm trying to find information about other possible retails and rendering pictures too.

Also, they say will start construction in next four months both for hotel and Houlihan's.

View information on projects and add your own in our new Project Database: [Link]
