Richmond's first Restro-Lounge is having soft-openings this week and will probably be THE place to explore in the near future.

It is called 2113 and is next door to the old mansion that served as Henrico County Court House for decades even though it is located in the midst of the city.

2113 is part of the Haxall View complex of former tobacco warehouses and will surely benefit from the influx of new apartment dwellers along 21st Street as well as Church Hill and Tobacco Row residents.

I think the owners have William & Mary connections.

Richmond CenterStage

Richmond CenterStage has announced its Broadway shows for the 2012-2013 season. The five shows, all musicals, are:

HOW THE GRINCH STOLE CHRISTMAS
BILLY ELLIOT
MARY POPPINS
LES MISERABLES
THE WEST SIDE STORY

Unlike this season, none of them will be in town for more than one week. And while venues for each show have not been announced, it's likely they will all play at The Landmark Theatre.

Richmond CenterStage

The Landmark Theatre is an operation of Richmond CenterStage along with The Carpenter Theatre, Gottwald Playhouse and Rhythm Hall.

I'm just a sucker for that Grand Staircase and overall lobby. The open, spacious lobby kind of gives you that grand, classic, almost fairy-tale like movie set feel. It really is a grand hotel. I just wish alligators still greeted guests in their signature pools. That gave the hotel that eccentric and lovable edge.

Is Sweet Frog poised to become America's biggest fro-yo chain? It sure seems like it. Visions such as a Chuck-E-Cheese-esque play land, TV shows, and international stores are all seen easily through the eyes of Derek Cha, as RTD chronicles his journey as a art supply merchant to hard times and restart in RVA, which ultimately led to the opening of the first Sweet Frog location in Short Pump next to Regal Cinemas. Derek's subliminal "Fully Rely On God" message has stole the hearts of thousands, and already has 50 locations in 4 or 5 states. He is also producing a gospel-rap CD, children's books, and Sweet Frog themed products, all of which is set to come out in stores sometime this year. And with all this recognition, it makes America wonder how much more fro-yo can it handle, specifically Richmond.
