Great looking street level. Let's hope it lives up to the rendering! Also cool to see the streetcar in there.

Nice touch with the Streetcar! This area has amazing bones - I've always wished there would be a reason to hang out there...

The Seversville Community and the Historic West End Partners are hosting an event to learn more about the Urban Cultural Arts District (West End Pedscape District 1).

John Howard, city planner and designer of the West End Land Use and Pedscape Plan will provide an in-depth session on the Urban Cultural Arts District. He will address the new Mosaic project along with his education Q&A session on the pedoverlay. The host site is the Wallace Pruitt Recreation Center.

Residents of Wesley Heights, Seversville and Biddleville-Smallwood are encouraged to attend.  This is an opportunity to understand what is envisioned for thearea from Bojangles to Church's Chicken on W. Trade St. and to voice the things we desire and are willing to embrace.

rendering for Mosiac Village!

This rendering is hysterical. The artist has taken some pretty good liberties in extending Auten St passed Duckworth to W. Trade St and added a traffic light at that intersection.

Thats actually part of the plan... so I wouldn't call the rendering hysterical. The plan is to develop all of west trade from the Bojangles to the Churches Chicken, as well as the area in and around "5 points."

Ok...funny then because there is no plan to extend Auten St. and no plan to add the light on West Trade.

No… funny because the way this is being referred to is “The area between Bojangles and Churches Chicken.”   haha!

Haha, agreed, its not what I would be talking about, but thats just what everyone is saying... And as far as Auten goes, from what I've been told, it will be extended to w. trade.

A Soka Gakkai Community Center (http://www.sgi-usa.org/) has opened at 1500-D W Morehead, along the parking lot side next to The Burger Company.

Also, in the same complex there is a project on the code enforcement website for Picante` Restaurant (1500-A W Morehead).  Any insider info on this?

As much as I wish the area success, I would love to see the day when a guy like me could walk from Wesley Heights to uptown safely.  Hopely with future improvements and growth, this will be possible.

At the risk of wondering OT, what about walking from Wesley Heights to Uptown feels unsafe? I can't speak to 5th St, but Morehead, 4th St and Trade all seem like perfectly decent pedestrian routes. And 4th St makes an excellent bike route into Uptown.

I work in wesley heights and see people doing this every single day (I'm usually on my bike). I've never seen anything sketchier than the occasional panhandler at the exit ramp. The more desolate stretch of w. morehead isn't the most pleasant walk but it's quite safe, and I also see plenty of people walking the greenway into Frazier park.

I am glad to hear this. As a very young child, I lived on Grandin Road. It was a great area and close in. It changed over the years and now seems to be coming back around. I am glad to hear that. I hope that civic minded people continue to dominate. I also lived on Rozzles Ferry Road as a kid. That is another area that I would love to see as a safe/walkable community for everyone.

I've heard from a resident of Seversville, that at the most recent neighborhood meeting they gave approval for the installation of a light display under the I-77 overpass.  I had seen renderings once before a while back and hope this is true!
