Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but I just have to say that Cumberland Mall continues to improve with the addition of White House/Black Market, Forever 21, and a new concept DSW shoe store that looks great.  The mall demographics have evened out quite a bit, and the restaurants (save for Teds) seem to be consistently doing well.

Also, I can definitely attest to the success of the Costco store at Cumberland.  It is PACKED!  I have no idea why they couldn't figure out a way to attach the Costco to the mall to drive more foot traffic into Cumberland.  That was a mistake.
That CostCo is certainly my first choice; it has the quickest and easiest access from Midtown of any metro CostCo location. Of course, I'm just waiting patiently until they unveil plans for an intown location.

Maybe it will be part of Sembler's Atlantic Station development.

That particular "big box" appears to be for a Home Depot or Lowes.

I'm not sure if its a done deal but Costco was mentioned with Sembler's Town Brookhaven development.

I am waiting for J. Crew to open a store there!  Come on people, let's get a move here!  The market is so prime for it right now.

The disparaging thing about Cumberland Mall for me right now is the number of empty storefronts.  I think the strategy is to get rid of the "yucky" stores and start populating the mall with higher end, more respected retailers.  The problem is that the management company is being very hush hush about it and won't announce more plans.  Now with Town Center getting major renovations and many higher end stores there, I am concerned about Cumberland Mall and its work towards attracting the middle and upper middle class in southern Cobb County.

I don't see why a foot bridge would be better for Costco.  People that go to Costco buy big items and immediately bring them to their car.  I do not see many people go in there to buy a pair of pants only or just movie tickets.  Hence, the store is not really a "carry around items" type store.  I think the way it's configured is perfectly fine (and business is booming there!  I LOVE the store).

Bah... I mean Downtown/Midtown.  Costco Cumberland will still be a quicker/easier trip for me from Midtown than Town Brookhaven, particularly if it's buried in the back/middle of the development where it'll be far less accessible.  Ideally, I'd like something like the Vancouver downtown CostCo that I've mentioned here before.

I agree on both counts but when Sembler can still build a big box with surface parking over at Atlantic Station, it makes that kind of store less likely.

Cumberland Mall Jewelry Store Robbed in the middle of the day

Just when you thought poor Cumberland was starting to make progress, a bunch of thugs go rob it in broad daylight.

I heard about that. The store now has a security guard posted at the entrance at all times. Crazy.
