I haven't been to the Haywood Mall since April.  I really do need to go check it out.  These improvements sound GREAT!  I can't wait to see what they do to give the outside a face lift, too.  It could definitely use one.

With all of the shootings out there, it might be a while before I go out there, unless they increase security.

And a year ago I thought only Westgate in Spartanburg was that dangerous. <_<   What is with these idiots loitering around innocent shoppers?  I remember a time nearly two decades ago when it was seriously unsafe to go to Haywood without the proper "equipment," but there is no call for such activity today.

It would seem that malls in general are having this problem, though it seems that Haywood has a bigger one than Westgate. It is an unfortunate situation to be in. Perhaps it will come to Columbiana's precedent of restricting youth precense without an adult.

Haywood is by far the worst currently.  A year ago it was definitely Westgate.  Several shootings and such had occured there, but now they are happening in vast numbers here.  This is very disturbing to say the least.  Obviously the job of patroling the grounds has moved well beyond the ability of Simon Mall Security. <_<

In defense of Westgate, it was just the one shooting, though there were several shots fired.

I had an indirect connection to the man killed in that shooting in Spartanburg last year.  There were other disturbances at Westgate during that time, if I'm not mistaken.  I remember thinking that it would be a while before I would feel safe visiting.  That is how I feel about Haywood now.

When I was in High School they had three shootings in like one year at the Roper Mountain Waffle House, I remember all my friends parents banning them from going to any waffle houses.  In realty it was the area, because that BP had three people shot in one night and Characters and what ever other clubs that operated there had had shootings.  Likely the people from the club were responsible for the shootings at the Waffle House and the BP, but it made the area seem really dangerous.

Maybe its just me, but I've never felt unsafe at either mall. I have felt a little uneasy at Haywood in the evening once, but that was well over a year ago- I haven't been back since, but only due to a lack of interest (and funding), not because I felt unsafe.

Call me crazy, but I usually go to the mall during broad open daylight.  I've never felt uneasy or unsafe in either mall though.  Maybe that's because I'm a big guy and nobody in their right mind would want to mess with me.

I heard on the radio today (maybe yesterday) that the mall is having talks about this security issue, and discussing the possibility of a curfew for ages 16 and under.

Y'all are scared of going to Haywood??  lol I've been there hundreds of times and haven't been afraid once, lol.....Overall I think it's a pretty comfortable mall.  Guess I never gave it much thought.  I won't be going there for a while, though after this past weekend.

Crime can happen anywhere. Life is a risk. You can just stay home 24/7.

Haywood has been advertising it's re-grand opening for Nov. 18-20.  I'm not sure that they will be finished by that time...It looks good but there's a long way to go.  Express Women/Men opened today.

There hasn't always been an Express there?  I thought it was in the old Structure location.

Maybe he meant re-opening, because I swear there's been an Express in there for a good while now.

Is much being done to the exterior of the mall/dept stores besides the new mall enterances?  I saw it from 385 (kinda) and it still had the old signs up and everything looked the same to me.

I went to Haywood for the first time in at least 8-9 months the otherday, and I gotta say- I can't tell any difference except that they filled in the center court and they are replacing the structure over the entrance to the food court.
