The "Atwells Parcel" that Cotuit mentions is the wildcard in terms of height..my info is between 250-300 but it is not clear yet. The other 2 Power Block condos are certain to be 300+

Do you know that the "Atwells Parcel" is the 3rd piece of the Power Block, or are you guessing too?

I was told the Mayor has an announcement on the old Public Safety Complex in 2 months...no idea.

That's been mentioned before, I'm really hoping it's not Mesollela, he doesn't really seem to know what he's doing, and is always trying to feed from the public teet. I think we're beyond having to throw money at developers, snooze you lose Mesollela.

As to Mesollela, the Fogarty Bldg site is sladed to be his new 13 story hotel - it is better suited to a have a smaller footprint and a taller (25) tower. Is that still on?

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

This is what was in the Journal for the Fogarty site:

He's supposed to break ground in July. He got some concessions from the city/state but they've imposed strict development guidelines. I'll have to dig up the article about it.

The Atwells site...yes, it is a guess but by all the info I have it fits (22-27 floors, walk to Federal Hill restaurants, etc.)

As to the Fogarty site; this is Mesollela's last chance. I can not understand why the height restriction by the city - thanks for the photo!

I have a question...any artist rendering of the new version of One Ten??

Duany was hinting the hell out of that site when he was here. He said someone was ready to build. I can't really imagine any other site near the Power Block that would fit the bill.

Not yet. When GTECH was going through design review they weren't releasing any updates. Likely 110 won't release anything else until it's close to official.

Here's some more detail on the Mesollela plan for the Fogarty Building: link

Under the terms of Mesolella's agreement with the Redevelopment Agency, he would be obliged to move quickly, consummating a purchase by June 30 and commencing construction within 120 days of the closing. He would be required to complete the project within two years of beginning construction.

HIS PLAN closely resembles what was on the table in negotiations with state government last summer: a 13-story hotel between Sabin and Fountain streets with a full-service restaurant containing about 150 seats, a light-fare pub with about 75 seats, meeting rooms, a small ballroom, an indoor swimming pool, a fitness center and one level of underground parking.

Mesolella would like to have the hotel connected to the Convention Center by a pedestrian bridge to be built at state expense, to have parking spaces set aside in the Convention Center garage for hotel guests, and to book rooms for convention-goers -- all as originally proposed to the state.

As for the height, I don't think the planning department is holding him back on that, that's just what he proposed. An early proposal did call for something about the height of the current Westin there. Interestingly Proc. Group is partially financing this.

I suspect the uncertinty will settle in 3 months or less.

Yes, in another thread I mentioned that the mayor stated that he'd have an annoucement on LaSalle Sq in a few months.

I posted this in another thread, but keep forgetting where I put it when I want to look at it. So I'm making this new thread for it. Thanks to Baines for some info on the Power Block condos heights. This is all a best guess right now, and could change.

428ft. Bank of America ("Superman") Building
410ft. One Financial Plaza ("Hospital Trust Tower")
400+ft. OneTen Westminster
360ft. Second Westin Tower
329ft. Westin Providence
311ft. Textron Tower
300+ft. Hilton Residences at current Holiday Inn
310ft. Power Block Condo
300ft. Power Block Condo
285ft. 50 Kennedy Plaza
235ft. WaterPlace Tower
223ft. The State House
220ft. The Biltmore
216ft. The County Courthouse
213ft. WaterPlace Tower
200ft. Grant's Block
185ft. First Baptist Church
180ft. Brown Sciences Library
175ft. Dominica Manor Federal Hill

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Cotuit-

I just checked the Procaccianti Group website and they have announced that the new Westin tower is going to be 380 feet...not 360. Interesting; while it would not change the "height standings" it does appear to be a bit of a reply to One Ten and would be a very formatable structure with high prestige value.

i just had to do some snooping and see for myself... here is the original 1950s black and white and color TV series opening credits, and it can be said with some certainty that it is NOT the Industrial Trust building, it is in fact a rather bland faceless "tall" building.

When I first moved here every Rhode Islander I met swore up and down that that was the building used in the old Black and White Superman television show AND that it was ALSO the building used in Ghostbusters...

After a while I grew to realize that Rhode Island is really something of its own paradoxical universe, where the laws of reality and logic need not apply.  It is a land where cherubic mobsters with names like "Buddy" are re-elected Mayor from prison (only later to go back), where Mr Potato Head is a state official, where rivers are lit on fire and everyone claims that fricken building in downtown Providence was in every movie ever made.

But, thats why we love this place.  That and the Olneyville hot wieners - (which by the way, many Rhode Islanders have sworn to me are illegal in many states)

hahahahahahha   too funny!  Yeah, I've been told many times that wieners are illegal in other states.  hehehehehe  And buddy never went to prison the first time. He only got convicted of a felony and somehow got re-elected. And we've already been over the fact that 111 Westminster was NOT the superman building. Welcome to RI!

Back to building heights -

Remember I told you that BlueChip told me that they were adding 3 floors (to 35 floors and 393') plus a lighted tower to reach "well over 400 feet" and that the Procciacanti Group web site has the Westin now up from 356' to 380".

The new renderings will surface on the Westin in June. Any ideas or info on One Ten?

I cant wait to see the furture providence skyline, providence is really on the move, there doing good stuff. Now all they have to do is restructure the school system, because there the future of providence. Also they need to bring jobs in to the city.

Two Questions Cotuit: How tall will GTECH be? And also in the One Ten Westminister Forum someone said he saw the new renderings and it is going to be 520 ft. to the top of the spire. Is this true?

I'm not sure, but it won't even rank in the top 20 for height in the city. I can probably find out.

I hope so. I haven't attended any meeting or anything about it, so I don't know where this info is coming from yet.
