Saigon or Ho Chi Minh City is the largest city in Vietnam, located near the delta of the Mekong River. It was the main port of Cambodia, before being conquered by the Vietnamese in the 17th century. Saigon became the capital of the French colony of Cochinchina, and later of the independent state of South Vietnam from 1954 to 1976.
Today Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City) is Vietnam's largest city, and a business capital with 5,387,100 inhabitants. The city is is full of contrasts, and have poor slum areas, modern business areas as well as modern residential areas. And you have of course the historic part of the city, with a lot of frenched inspired architecture.
