I just can't say enough how important this project is to the city & the state.  It's basically the gateway to the area of major redevelopment in the next 10-20 years.  It will have a A+ hotel, restaurant, and of course the museum that will attract thousands of tourists and residents alike.  If the ferry can get funded, visitors to Newport can ferry up and walk to the museum as well as passengers taking the American Cruise lines cruises from nearby conley wharf before/after their cruise that originates/terminates in the city.

I can't wait.

PBN:  "Heritage Harbor is on track for 2010"

http://www.pbn.com/stories/36203.html

"A year ago, the estimated completion date of Dynamo House was November 2009, a timeframe now pushed back to what Chafee projected would be the second quarter of 2010. Construction work started in late 2007."

Construction has stalled on the Dynamo House, the $137 million mixed-use redevelopment on Providence’s waterfront that includes the long-planned Heritage Harbor Museum. At least some subcontractors report they have not been paid.

There was an article last week, can't remember if it was projo or PBN. I think it may have been PBN, as I have given up reading the projo.

The original location for the Encore Awards this year was going to be the Dynamo House, but because there is basically no roof and no insurance company would let this happen in a construction zone, it got moved to ALCo.

It was reported @ pbn.com, however you would have to have been an subscriber to read the actually message. However, here is projo's story on this issue.

Developer Struever Bros. owes millions to Rhode Island companies. Two dozen subcontractors, including plumbers, electricians, flooring installers, painters and furniture makers, are complaining that they haven’t been paid for work done at many company sites in Rhode Island.

PROJO 10/15/09:  "Did Downtown Providence’s boom go bust?"
"The $150-million Dynamo House project, which was to turn the vacant South Street Power Station in the Jewelry District into a five-star hotel and Rhode Island history museum, has been put on indefinite hold by Struever Bros., Eccles & Rouse, its financially struggling developer. The building is an empty shell of brick and steel."
