"Women & Infants Hospital, in Providence, this morning will celebrate the completion of the steel structure phase of its five story addition now under construction with a topping off ceremony.
Those attending the event are invited to sign the last steel beam and watch as it is hoisted into place. Eight children who were treated as infants in Women & Infants’ neonatal intensive care unit will be placing their handprints on the beam as well.
The $76.8-million project is slated for completion in 2009.The new building will add approximately 150,000 square feet of patient space, including an 80-bed natal intensive care unit where families will enjoy the privacy of single-family rooms, and 30 new, larger rooms with private baths for adult inpatients."
