No plans have really been solidified for the building yet as far as I know.

At an economic development summit held yesterday in Orangeburg, details were revealed for the massive $600 million distribution and logistics hub by Dubai-based Economic Zones World, formerly Jafza America Inc.
Under the plan presented Wednesday for the site on U.S. 301 just west of I-95, the company said:
• The first phase will include 950,000 square feet on 135 acres. It will have light manufacturing, light industrial and mixed-use buildings. It is expected to be completed by 2012-2013.
• The second phase will include 2.1 million square feet on 93 acres. It will include warehousing and distribution facilities. Phase two also will include a 63-acre intermodel yard, which transfers goods from rail to trucking and vice versa. It is scheduled for completion in 2016.
• Phase three will include 4.1 million square feet of warehousing and distribution facilities on 131 acres. It is scheduled for completion in 2020.
The schedules for future phases on the 1,300-acre site will depend on market conditions.
Also discussed at the summit, which was held at Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College, were other related issues, such as education, work force development, infrastructure, and quality of life issues. Two major real estate development projects were unveiled also, including plans to build up to 15,000 homes on more than 3,000 acres between Lake Marion and I-95.

This development should help attract manufacturing, etc. to metros across inland SC because of the shorter trip to unload the goods.

Here's some more information about two residential developments that were planned prior to the announcement of the logistics/distribution hub, but should get a big boost in association with the project.
Cantey Bay Plantation would transform 3,800 acres into a residential community with thousands of homes and commercial development along Lake Marion and I-95 in Clarendon County. Plans call for 7,500 to 15,000 homes and 300,000 square feet of office and retail space. The land sits along 1.2 miles of Lake Marion waterfront and straddles both sides of I-95.
The Santee Town Center project would develop 75 acres in Santee with more than 400 homes. The town, population 750, has been little more than a crossroads without a traditional main street. The developers plan to build 448 houses, condos and duplexes as well as retail and office space on 75 acres. The land borders U.S. 301, S.C. 6 and Santee National Golf Club. The estimated $180 million project should get under way next year.
While it's obvious that the Santee area will greatly benefit from the hub, I hope that we'll also see more development (economic, commercial, and residential) in Orangeburg proper as a result.

I thought the Jafza development was at a total standstill due to the economy, but apparently there is some progress being made. The first building of the logistics park has been constructed. The $1.2 million, 16,000-square-foot Santee Enterprise Center already has a few occupants, but marketing continues. Interest has been high from light manufacturers and textile companies, according a Jafza USA official. About 8,000 square feet is already occupied, with an estimated 10 to 20 people employed there. The building houses Timmonsville-based Palmetto Training Inc. and Greenville-based Arc Labs, a welding training company. An information technology company, Quorum Resources Inc., also has an office in the building.

Orangeburg is one step closer to adopting a complete streets policy. They are using complete streets as part of the strategy to reduce obesity rates, and they have an impressive coalition of organizations in support of the concept.

Pretty progressive move for the old hometown, but I'd like to see how they'd implement this. Orangeburg itself has some decent bones in and around downtown and in the vicinity of the universities that could be a great starting point.
