There is not much to photograph of the mt hope to scott woods part save a few concrete pads that have been poured.  I did take a couple of the hawk island south expansion today though...

Beat,

I've heard about this new extension, but have no idea exactly where it works through.  Do you know if the city has brochure-type maps that show the new extension?  Where exactly does it start on Mount Hope, and do you know when they are going to connect it to the main River Trail?

The best thing I've found on the webz is this map.

I saw some more dozing going on the past couple of days north of mt hope, so I might take a few shots to show the progress.  I really wonder what they are doing south of mt hope where the old sycamore golf course/turned driving range is though.  Anytime the water table rises, that area pretty much becomes a temporary holding pond.

So far though, it appears that it will run south from the west side of aurelius, then behind the tree farm on the north side of mt hope, then south into the west side of mt. hope cemetery down to scott woods...

That map shows the existing River Trial already connected to the South Extension.  Weird.

I noticed that as well.  It also shows a trail along the railline from okemos rd to grand river ave. as complete too.  Maybe this is the work being done in 08.  If so, it wont be long before lake lansing will be fully connected to the trail...

I have also noticed that they have planned to cross back over the river near mlk as you have stated previously in this thread.  Seems like the only way it will continue to the west....

Judging by the amount of earth they are laying down on the south end of the old Sycamore golf course, the layout of the expansion has grown much clearer.  There is a fork in the trail that briefly heads north near where the current trail ends at Willard St.  I suspect they will tie in there.

Here is a pic showing the course that should be pretty accurate.   The new area is in red with the existing in green.

Wait, I thought the only part of the trail done was the part south of Cavanaugh.  You mean to tell me that there is a trail through Sycamore Golf Course?

Not quite yet, but soon.  Everything north of Mt. Hope is complete though.
