I just don't think KING is a good word to describe Houston

Just ask everyone else (besides a Houston resident) that question in the state of Texas

I've never been to Texas, so I won't vote.. but from what I've seen, San Antonio seems to be very impressive with their little river front cruise boats.

Houston seems to be really sprawly and polluted.... yeah, San Antonio.

Dallas is the only major one I've been to and I like it quite a bit, to boot, so I vote for it. It's pretty clean, cosmopolitan, and not so compressed as many large cities. I hear the State Capital is quite a bit of fun, too. I haven't heard much of anything at all about El Paso or San Antonio, so I'm neutral on those, and I haven't heard too much good on Houston.

I voted for Austin.  I find it very unusual to be in a city with 1 interstate highway.  It is a very interesting city.

Wow, this one was very tough for me. My favorite used to be Dallas, but I've since developed an appreciation for Houston and San Antonio. But my all-time favorite Texas city, of the ones I've visited, is Houston. San Antonio would be a close second and then Dallas would be righ behind that. However I must add that I've never visited Austin (yet!)

My favorite would Austin.  It has a great laid back, slightly liberal edge to it.  Not to mention the Hill

Country is at It's doorstep.  Second place would go to Houston.  Third place is a tie between Dallas and San

Antonio.

Of course Houston, I like Austin and Dallas a lot, too.

I'm surprised to see so many people touting Houston...nobody I've ever talked to that visited there ever had much good at all to say about it. I hear a lot of that on TV too.

So, now I'm confused. I guess Houston's either a place you love or hate...?

According to Emporis, Houston has the 3rd best skyline in the U.S. (NYC and Chicago, of course, outrank it).  Houston has a lot of things going for it, definitely.

I don' think you can really compare any of these cities. They are each great in their own ways and all have their good qualities and flaws. I HATE the humidity and pollution in Houston, but love the vibrant feeling within the downtown core and in the Galleria/Kirby area... The many skylines throughout the city just make it seem so powerful. As for Dallas, I love Dallas as it is the city where I have grown up and the humidity isn't as bad as Houston, although it still does get very hot. Dallas has a little better terrain (a couple of hills lol) whereas Houston is flat. I also like the lakes around Dallas, which Houston really has only one lake. Austin is simply beautiful, as well as San Antonio. Both are similar in size and growing rapidly. The entire hill country area is just amazing.

All i know is Texas is BAD ASS!!!!

=)

was an annoying comment. I have only visited Houston, DFW, and CC.  But Houston reminded me of the northeast the city part and I loved it, I could picture myself living in the houston area.

Where is Ft Worth, when you say CITY?
This survey is biased since a city wins when more forumers come from that city.

I have been to all of the cities, and yes: Texas is amazing.  But my favorite is Houston because it's large, has a large skyline, is relatively close to the beach, and has plenty of greenery.  I like all the industry there, I could tour the ship channel area all day and never get bored looking at the endless array of refineries - which I consider to be delightfully complicated works of art and science.

.... :scared:

Anyway, - Houston is cool.

Yeah, obviously galveston is no rio de janiero, but it's no nebraska.  I just like to drive by the ocean every now and then...

Corpus Christi is the better beach/bay experience

Dallas skyline IMO looks much better than houston's. (although houston has more buildings)

Dallas gets my vote.

The Dallas Skyline rocks, but as far as a really pedestrian-friendly, livable, walkable urban city...Fort Worth wins hands-down.
