I have lived in Austin off & on my entire life. I can't remember ever taking pictures of this mall. I took many pictures FROM the parking lot (of Downtown and the hills), especially as a kid. But of the mall *itself*....???

At one time, the interior was semi-unique...everything was lined with rock and there were little fountains at each major 'court'...plus the magnificent painting of the Austin skyline that sat in a dead-end across from Penney's 2nd entrance. All of these elements were removed in the 1990s. I've always wondered what happened to that painting...

I will try to see if I have any photos though, if that helps you.

Our local malls/shopping centers are not exactly architectural wonders...the Arboretum (IMO) is the only one that is aesthetically pleasing...
