Not exactly construction news, but cool nonetheless...

I was on campus two weeks ago and they have blocked off the rest of the parking lot which Research 1 took out. There are two signs, "Academic 5" and "Volgenau IT&E" so I am guessing they are building two academic buildings at the same time. Anyone know anything else about this?

On a side note, does anyone else feel like this thread DIED once it was put into the DC Metro subcategory? I think it is too hard to find... Maybe should be moved back into Virginia...

ewwwww... Take it back! Take it AWAY!!!

Sorry, I had to.   I can't call myself an ODU student and not put down George Mason, or any other school in the CAA for that matter.   :dontknow:
What's going on up at GMU?

At least we had a post season!     I've had time to recover... but now ya'll are perched to kick everyone's butt this year.  I have to hate the team that's on top, unless it's the Monarchs.

Haha I can die happy with our fluky run to the Final Four!

VCU is the team to hate unfortunately... Anthony Grant's a hell of a coach.

Hahaha I am glad I petitioned to move it back to the VA forum! Yall are already posting on it :)

Yes, hopefully basketball will be awesome this year (though I must admit, I live across the hall and next to some of the people from the team and man they can be rowdy sometimes!!)

Despite basketball, construction on campus is booming! There was an article in the school paper about the construction on campus and it said Mason will spend $4 million PER WEEK starting in 2008 on construction alone!

Ahh I lived across from some of the basketball guys last year. Always felt awkward seeing them come back from a loss.

If you're still up there, why don't you try to persuade Merten to warm to the idea  of a D-1AA football program? :)

They broke ground the other day on yet another building, a new Fine Arts building. Also they recently closed a major parking lot and have begun adding a spur entrance into campus, as well as have started construction on a new parking deck.

Which parking lot was closed? And where will Academic V (new fine arts) be located?

How is the new Volgenau School progressing? Depending on work, I should be up there this weekend.

They have closed most of Lot E and made that into a detour from Patriot Circle while they build the new entrance to campus coming around Lot F. Half of Lot F is closed and is under construction for the parking deck.

The IT Building has one half of the first floor wall up and is between Research I and the Aquatic Center (which is now done being renovated). The Fine Arts building is next to the new IT building, so there will be a cluster of Research I, Fine Arts, and IT.
