I'll say it again: I wish they were adding some COLOR to the Plaza. It's one of the most drab and lack-luster looking Bus Plazas I've seen. I mean it wouldn't cost very much at all to just jazz-up the exterior/facade a little.

You can now go from Bradfordville Target to Southwood TownCenter w/out a transfer. This also marks the first time StarMetro has provided service outside the City of Tally.
T-man are you still using the 80X?
Is StarMetro still providing the Park & Ride service? Looks like now that service would be more in demand than ever.
I am still riding, usually about 4 days a week. I even rode up to target at bradfordville last week just to see it there was anything interesting along the way. There wasn't. But, if I needed to go up there for any reason it would be my choice on how to get there.
The Northern part of the route was contemplated in the summer, announced in the fall (during commuter choices week) and began running in December. The route was modified a few times to improve on-time performance during the soft-launch in December and January. For instance, they took out the loop through the Wal-mart parking lot on the north-bound ride because it involved two left turns at long traffic lights. This made things much more reliable.
The marketing began in earnest last month, as the bsh indicated, once the Marketing Specialist position was filled. The response to the marketing has been good, and a lot of new riders have been trying it out from the Killearn area.
A direct mail piece sent a few weeks ago to State employees who work at CCOC and live in Killearn that showed calculations on how riding the bus to work would save $3200/yr in gas (at $3.00/gal and 15mpg).

Just curious...where did you board the 80X and at what time? I knew that the 80X 6:40 am pick up from Target was full, but I had no idea that the afternoon routes to SouthWood were getting crowded. Check out the newest release from StarMetro on talgov.com.

I believe that StarMetro has a plan to extend shuttle service out to the airport; however, I do not believe they have the funding or the approval from the City Commission for such a route. Although, I have heard that StarMetro will be creating an additional route, similar to the 80X, out to another 'commuter' area in the fall with grant monies.

Maybe they should tell Woodville that they'll be happy to bring service down there when they vote for consolidation. Woodville residents, right or wrong, a vehemently against consolidation.

Gadsden County has over twice the population of Wakulla. From sources I've read, a far lesser percentage of Wakulla residents work in Tallahassee (less than half I think), whereas in Gadsden, the percentage is much higher (as stated in the Democrat article). Transit is simply more viable in Gadsden County.

Lets do it to all surrounding communities, then we will have regional transit....
This is getting better and better, 2000-2010 is one of the biggest growth times for tally as far as development.

You are exactly right; according to the 2000 US Census, 47.4% of Gadsden County residents are employed in Leon County. By the way, StarMetro will be providing service to Gadsden via an FTA federal grant - that is, if approved. So, it is of no cost to the City of Tallahassee. And, it's a grant...Wakulla County could have applied for the grant too just like Gadsden County did...but, they didn't.
