Coach is coming to Augusta, The first in Georgia outside Atlanta. South Carolina only has one Coach store in Greenville. I hope more exclusive retailers tap into the Augusta metro market.

Looks like Coldwater Creek is also going into one of the new spots at the Mall.  I wonder if those stores will have locations at The Villages at Riverwatch too,  since they are so typical of Lifestyle Centers.  Also,  has 9-West reopened their Augusta Mall store yet?

This is shaping up to be a great project.  Now if they can just revitalize what is around the mall we'll be in business.

It will probably happen after the mall is completely renovated.  The area is not too bad though...just pockets need help.  Im glad to see Starbucks coming to the old Pier One building, as well as the new Rooms to Go and the expansion of the Kroger across from the mall.

^ Yeah, it's definately coming together over there.  I wonder what will happen to Augusta West or whatever it's called (where Barnes and Noble is now).

Chico's and White House/Black Market will also be included in the lifestyle addition.

There's already a Chico's in Surry Center so either this will be a second location or they will close that location.

Why doesn't this town have a Banana Republic?  Not that I"m a huge fan or anything (okay I am a huge fan!!!).

And the Starbucks in the old Pier One building in front of the mall is good. I've been going there every morning.  I'm addicted to corporate coffee.  Sue me.

Im sure they will put a Banana republic in the Villages of Riverwatch, at least Id think they would.  I dont see Augusta having 2 Chicos, Id assume the Surrey Center spot will close.  Id also imagine Talbots will open a spot either here on in the Villages, but 2 Talbots would work in Augusta, (at least they do in similarly sized Greenville.)  Any news on the Forum development in West Augusta?  They promised my Moms neighborhood association they would have a Chicos, but I cant see it happening now.

Funny you mention that.  My husband was in Augusta tonight and had a look at the site that you speak of.  Firehouse Subs had their soft opening this afternoon and he got to meet the franchisee for FH Subs.  Looks like we're a day late once again.  That's okay, we'll find somewhere to go.

Only one empty building left has it been purchased? But u should check the old block buster building by aug mall(only harbor seafood right by),the kroger plaza near augusta mall(only a chucke chesse & grand buffet), jimmie dyess- belair rd-ft.gordon entrance area(only a zaxbys but building a bank & already has a bank & daycare no resturants until u get into evans) downtown or near medical district( would be first significant one) dont forget about south augusta none in sight tobacco rd or peach orchard could serve s.aug, burke county, hephzibah.

Banana Republic is one of the stores coming to the Augusta mall.  Also a chinese chain restaurant is coming .....I'm thinking that will be a P.F. Chang's China Bistro.

^ You really think so??? Man, that is awesome.  P.F. Chang.  Hmmmm.  Actually, I'm mad.  So I have to leave this town for a few years and right when I decide to leave, Augusta suddenly becomes cooler than everyone else.  This sucks.. :dunno:

Im glad to hear that area is bouncing back (the mall area).  You know,  after the Villages are built there will be 5 areas in Augusta that are booming with retail.  The Mall area,  Augusta Exchange/Wheeler rd area,  The Villages,  Evans,  and the Knox Rd. area of North Augusta.

dont forget dt aug & aiken whiskey rd, they already have a downtown compare to evans starting from stratch. That means suruburban sprawl vs historic preservation or sandys springs vs savannah. Augusta will offer alot of choices tho with even more urban richmond county.I also see grovetown, & south aug with there own area in the future.

Richland Ave. in Aiken will also become a new major destination once the new Walmart Supercenter opens there and all of the associated development that comes with it.  This will also be the closest shopping to all of the new homes in Graniteville, so expect this to be a primary retail corridor in 5-10 years.  In fact, I think Richland could theoretically become more significant that Whiskey Rd, because a) there's room to expand to 3 lanes, b) more thru-traffic to Augusta (on Richland) than to New Ellenton and SRS (on Whiskey), c) proximity and easy access to downtown Aiken, northside Aiken, USCA, and the valley, and d) potential to plan better to prevent the choking traffic and stoplights every 50 feet that is the current Whiskey Rd.

^ I hate Whiskey Road.  Traffic on that thing, for some reason, is worse to me than Washington Road even.
