The Phoenix at McBee Station!   They'll be rocking and rolling once construction begins.

Don't phone Harper Corporation with any questions about McBee Station because they haven't a clue about it.     I just called to try to find out when the apartments are going to be torched.  They suggested calling the City of Greenville, so I'll try to do that when I have some time.

Saw several people around the site today.  No hardhats, but definitely looked like some sort of construction guys or engineers.  Maybe they helping were plan the big burn!!!!   :D

Yep, those were an eyesore.  Greenville desperately needs this project to get underway.  That will be another great residential location in downtown - within walking distance of everything. :)

When I phoned Harper Corp. about this, they had no clue about any burning and suggested that I phone the City F.D. (still haven't done that and likely won't at this juncture).  Maybe they're just going to have a big bonfire instead?

The burning was for the larger Senior Citizens complex according to the Journal.   These pics are of the smaller, less visible units next to the senior ones- right?

The fact that Harper hasn't heard anyhting about it is odd though.

Very odd, unless Harper isn't involved in the demolition of the buildings.  But that would also be odd...

What has been torn down is the brick apartments.  What I heard was being burned is the McBee apartments, the ones with light brown wood siding.

Also, Harper may know nothing, becuase they might not be involved with the site prep.

Also, as grand as it sounds, I doubt they will be burning all 20 buildings.  I may be wrong, but my thoughts are they they were burn a few of them and the rest will coem down by conventional means.

btoy is probably right.  They will only need a acouple to practice on.  I wonder if there is an environmental issue to consider as well, since they plan to use that time for training?  Many old buildings are full of hazardous materials, including the paint.  They may strip all the bad stuf out first?

Exactly, that is the point I was trying to make earlier, they can't just burn them down, they have to remove alot of things first.  Burning is not as cheap as it sounds.

Hadn't thought of that.  Hope they do strip them.  Don't want to see a toxic green cloud floating over Falls Park.   :)

That would give new meaning to the name "Greenville," wouldn't it? ;)

Went by McBee station today, unfortunatly my camera was missing the card.  Andyway, as you may know David Francis Ct. will be extended from McBee to Broad as part of the project.  This morning they were demolishing the Bell Plaza Downtwon Mini Warehouses on Broad to make way for the roads extension.

Also, looked like they have started gutting the apartments.
