Please don't take this as being an attack toward CE or Planning.  You guys rock my world.  Keep up the good work and keep that money pump going.

I surely won't since I'm a private business owner and not a civil servant. :)

You're just bragging.   Besides, that comment was directed toward the world at large.  The universal "you".

Nope just correcting what I mistakenly thought was a misconception on your part about my vocation.  It sure looked like it was directed at me since I was quoted.  My misunderstanding, but it sure is hard to tell sometimes your direction Ghost  when you start "laying it out there."  Maybe confusing us little people is your M.O.?   :)

Sorry for confusing and/or confusion.  My problem is that, depending on whom you consult, my sense of humor is either primative or highly evolved and sometimes my tongue goes clean through my cheek.    Like Tom Lehrer(Harvard math guy and satarist - That was the year that was) says, "I wish people who have trouble communicating would just shut up."   Apparently he could have been talking about me.

Seriously poonther, you're my favorite entity here.  Nothing but respect from j'ŕ vous.  But keep up the good work because we're amusing the kids.

No sweat Ghost.  I meant no disrespect either and figured someone like me who can remember collecting Wheat Pennies would understand that.  Irony and sarcasm are often difficult to convey here on World Wide Web.

Now where's that sarcasm smiley do-hicky thing?????

Only if you'll join us and remember to bring 10lbs of Crisco and a 100 yds of clear plastic wrap.

Surely a step in the right direction. At school we spoke of this company a few semesters back, as being one of the larger development groups in the State. They've done good work in the Orlando area.

Edited to add -  From the CNL website:

  Welaunee

Quote

Part of a 7,000-acre tract of land in Tallahassee, this urban-infill community is the most talked-about, most anticipated mixed-use community in the area. Located just minutes from downtown Tallahassee, Interstate 10 and major universities, this community's master plan calls for single family and estate homes, town homes, lofts and live/work space, as well as a retail village. Groundbreaking is anticipated for late 2007 with homes available for occupancy in 2008.

Just a tad more:

Quote

Still in development, the land plan calls for extensive parks, civic gathering places, commercial space and a diverse mix of housing with a unique architectural style representing a fresh, updated interpretation of new urbanism. The core of the community will celebrate the property’s innate beauty and natural assets, including its adjacency to the Miccosukee Canopy Road Greenway, a 10-mile linear public park of rolling hills, grassy meadows and untouched oaks.
CNL Real Estate & Development agreed to purchase the tract from Powerhouse, Inc. The purchase price and terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
“We are excited about this opportunity,” said Edmond. “Without a doubt, this community will become a showcase for our company and, we hope, for Tallahasseans themselves.”

i wouldn't count on it...  sadly, with permitting/construction and planning costs i am sure the homes in this development will put them out of the reach for many in our community.  i hope i am wrong, but i have a feeling i am not.

I really hate this crazy spike in home prices. It makes no sense that new construction in JAX is in many cases cheaper than TLH.
