I like Nancy "DingDong" too. I just wish they had better weather graphics for her.
I read where "Hicks on Six" bought the old Florida News Channel Building off Capital Circle NE (it use to be the movie theater.) I was/am hoping they'd move their studio into there. I have no idea what they are waiting on???
Gray Television group owns WCTV here and WJHG NBC 7 in Panama City. Panama City is TV market #157 while we in Tally are market # 109. You'd think w/the same owner and a bigger market (people get paid more money) we'd have much better news. The opposite is actuallly true. So I ask, how can that be so?
And just to add "insult to injury" this better Albany TV station you speak of is also in a smaller market #147 out of only 210 markets.
Go figure???

Does anyone else find it funny that we have a weathergirl named Nancy, and she's a tall, voluptous blonde? It's just like King of the Hill! If only she'd call us "sug"......

I think the Black lady Lanitra Bennett from 5-6:30 looks drunk or high.

But I can see where she seems frightened all the time too!
Lanetra Bennett is a "hick on six." She does stubble horribly on her words, but I must say over the last month she has gotten a little better. They stuck her over in Perry/Live Oak and Lafayette as punishment I presume.

It is Lanita Williams of News Channel 27 who seems like the drunken woman. She used to stumble often, I'm not sure about now since I often don't watch her broadcasts.
Honestly, the only person that does something for me on that station is Nancy Dignone and she has crazy hair.
I used to LOVE Amy Basista, but she moved.
I do like the new consumer reports they do, however, I wish they would adjust the picture quality at which they broadcast for it seems to be a bit blury at times.

12/18/05 - ...changes are in store for Tallahassee's WTXL. The station was sold to Southern Broadcasting earlier this year. Earlier this month, Richelle Ridgeway took over as News Director, replacing Steve Rollison. The station now has a new General Manager and is no longer sharing one with (Sinclair owned) WTWC. Although WTXL has been sold, it's former owner Sinclair will still have a hand in the station (at least until late 2006) controlling the budget and payroll. Southern Broadcasting now controls news content, programming and decisions regarding staff. Future changes include expanding coverage of Southern Georgia and more general in-depth news reporting.

Thanks Glenn. That was very nice of you and VERY informative. Everything you wrote was consistent with what I've heard of the modern era. I had no idea the FCC wouldn't allow a Tallahassee channel 50 years ago.
I sure can't wait for the Conversion of the Old FNC building to be complete. That should be a nice studio when they finish, don't you think?

Have any of you seen anything happening there? It is a hard location to "spy" on as you drive past it since it's down in the hole.
They did promote w/in their ranks to fill their vacancy at the anchor desk for their new 5:30pm and 11pm news.

And what's a sweep?

Sweeps months...Nov. Feb. and May are when TV shows are monitored closely for their ratings. In TV it's really the only months that count and that's when you'll find your fav. TV shows pull out all the stops...special guests, interesting plot twists etc. to get you to watch. Local news is also monitored during some of those times. You can notice it on local TV news b/c that's when they'll run one of their sweepstakes or such where you gotta watch the news and then call in to win. That's why they are doing that then, to get you to watch during sweeps.

Poonther, you're terrible!
I just learned something about the sweeps. I didn't know that before now.
