In the last year, India has gone into a building boom. Here's a list of Mumbai (formerly Bombay) highrise projects u/c.


This is by no means an exhaustive list -- less than half, really. Just the projects that renderings can be found on the net. (There are a load of microscopic thumbnails of renderings from real estate websites of towers u/c, but no information or larger renderings of them.)

And these are all buildings concieved and u/c in the last year and a half, that we -- sitting literally across the globe away -- only know of!


There are also now confirmed reports of several towers planned or u/c reaching past the 70 storey mark, one of them being Mumbai's 1st commercial skyscraper, the 72 storey India International Trade Centre (IITC) due to be completed by 2007. And rumors of a 100+ storey tower are flying around.

Yeah I was there just last month and my parents were considering purchasing a flat there.  It is ridiculous the amount of building going on there.  Especially in Mulund.  Thats where I grew up and I go back every few years and the development astonishes me everytime.

However, infrastructure is still a big problem and I think they need to be adressed before it becomes too late.

While the renderings of the buildings themselves are accurate, the surrounding area is not. Indian builders tend to have the annoying habit of showing their building in isolation, rather than with the actual surroundings.


Anyway, here are some more projects. Again, this is nothing near a complete update, but these are the only buildings with renderings online that are anywhere near viewable size.

Wow - I like the Orbit Towers pictured just above; those are very cool designs.

Good to see some discussion of the cities in India here - a friend of mine grew up in Bangalore, and lived in Mumbai as well for a while, and he often speaks of how swift the rate of change is.  At some point in the not too distant future I plan on making a trip over...

It's awesome that this thread is the most view thread in the Asian section by a considerable margin (as of this post over 10K views!)

It goes to show that there is obviously considerable interest in this city. Being such, and that it has been forever since I updated this thread... I'll be sure to add the new buildings here, and keep the thread continuously updated with developments.
