Yeah, there are very few elevated freeways in Michigan, so you don't get many great views of the interstate.  I particularly like the Cedar/Larch exist at night because the curve slows you down and brings you right into downtown.

Just to let everyone know, the place where I have been storing my photos will be down for a few months.  I may crack and finally find another non-free site on which to store them, but until then I may will not be posting many pictures or development updates, unfortunately.  If anyone can find me a good, cheap photo hosting site that doesn't watermark or resize your photos, that would be great.  I have space on my Comcast account, but they shrink the photos down very small, and it's limited space.

I use Photobucket.com, they don't allow a whole lot of photos, but in addition you can use Flickr.com, they didn't use to let you blog with UP but I think since this site has been redesigned they now have something set up for it. Also, with Photobucket they allow multiple accounts to get more storage.

Has anyone seen this "rendering" or the Ranney Building? It's from Signature Associates.

Yep.  I wish downtown still had many of it's older, unique storefronts, but many have been demolished or so altered, that they can never be saved.

BTW, here's what the building looked like in the 1920's (far left):

Funny thing about this picture is that everyone of those buildings are still standing (if even some are heavily altered).

Is the building in the background the 5/3rd building?  The "modernization" of that building totally destroyed it.  This is the first picture i've seen of the pre-rennovation.

Nope, it's Capitol Hall. I haven't seen a pre-rennovation picture of the 5/3 building either.

I'm ashamed that I did not notice that.

Yeah, the 5/3 Building is much more cubed shapped.  That's indeed the corner of Capitol and Allegan looking southwest.

I've seen a picture of the 5/3 pre modernization and they REALLY messed it up.  It looked to be your typical brick building with limestone trim, but with a lot of decoration near the top.

Does anyone have any historic photos of the 101 South Washington Square prior to its first modernization in the 60's or the 70's?  I don't think I've ever saw that one before it's renovation(s).

People would be surprised to hear how many of downtown buildings still remain, but are either taken apart and rebuilt or covered up with loads and loads of crap.  :)

In the first picture, the building with the green windows and stairwell on the right is the Education College.  They will be adding on to this building and the addition will be able to support more floors in the future.

Gotta love the beauty of MSU.  I took about 50 pictures on the north side of the river this morning.  I'll upload them tonight hopefully, now that I've been inspired!

I didn't know Erikson Hall could be expanded upwards.  Cool.  Spartan Stadium looks so nice.  I really wish they would consider mirroring the new addition.

It is my understanding that the upper deck on the east side is going to be rebuilt after next season (using money from the origional addition rennovation), and be modified in some way.  I read something the that respect in the letter to Ralph Young Fund donors, that I read at my parents' place.

I hope they don't take out anymore affordable seats like they did on the other side.  That seems to be very popular because it's a money maker.
