Dubai Municipality announced yesterday that it will soon begin building a new dhs200 million zoo at a site near Mushrif Park.
The new zoo, replacing the original on Jumeirah Road, will be designed as an ‘open’ zoo, free of cages and including natural features such as caves and water.
“It will be simple but modern. A barrier free zoo that will include plenty of grassland for the animals,” a Municipality source said yesterday.

This new zoo also should be a lot better than the old one, which I remember as being extremly small.
It will also have six habitat zones:
Sub-Saharan Africa, Arabian Desert, a Wadi (desert valley), Arabian Coastal Desert, Asian Temperate Forest, and Himalayan Hillside.
