I wouldn't mind seeing some pics.  :D
Okay, if I don't do it this weekend then I'll do it a little later or maybe after Christmas.  Since I have more time than anticipated this weekend I've also considered trying to go to Rogers and Bentonville sometime this weekend to take pics too.

Hey Matt it's called go outside everyo once in a while.  Just kidding! I know what you mean I just had to mention that.  Any ideas if downtown Rogers or Bentonville will be bad because of holiday shoppers?  I don't know what's down there.  If it is then I might want to wait till after Christmas.  Just even trying to go anywhere near northern Fayetteville around the mall area can be a big mistake.

Don't even worry about Holiday Shoppers in Downtown Areas. There's not a whole lot of shops in the downtowns, but they are growing.

Okay just thought I'd ask ahead of time in case I decide to make the trip up there.  By the way here a shot of the construction around the Law Building.  It was near the Hank Kaminsky Razorback statue.  It's only one shot but I'll get more in the near future.

It sounds like the university is trying to build a pretty nice dorm there at 'Maple Hill'.  Although it sounds like some are already questioning to cost of the project.  So it might end up scaled down.

Yes, this is the Maple Hill Dorm and it will be built where fullbright dorm use to be between Reid and NWQ.  It was approved last night and they hired a architect and say it should be done by fall of 2007.

The design of these dorm is suppose to be a mixture of the two.  A room will have two beds and then two roods will be connected with a bathroom in the middle.  So 4 people will share a bathroom, which is better then 60 people sharing a bathroom.  It is suppose to be similar looking to NWQ as in the red brick etc.

Yeah thanks for the info Razorbackfan.  Reid also uses red brick although it also has a lot of white mixed in but I would imagine the new dorm will probably have a similar look.

According to KNWA the new dorm will be similar to Iowa State dorms which were studied for this project.  But there was no mention of what exactly they looked like.

I thought I saw a pic of these that made them look exactly like the NW Quads. I'll see if I can try to find it.

Not really a project, but I thought this topic fit this best.  There was an article in the Northwest Arkansas section of today's Arkansas Democrat Gazette about the university's Black Studies program.  Apparently they just restarted it last year.  There's not much of a budget for it so far.  But many would like it to become a bigger program at the U of A.  While there isn't much of an Afro-American community in northwest Arkansas, there are in other areas of the state.  Perhaps more Afro-American high school students in the rest of the state would be more interested in going to the U of A if there was a bigger Black Studies.  Maybe they could even consider eventually making it a major.

I'll have a few pics to post a little later of some of the developments around the campus.

^That is a cool program. Hopefully, more of an African American Base would form if we did make African American Studies a major.

Okay time for some pics.  I went around and took a few pics of some of the projects going on at the campus.  Here's a few of the renovation and addition of the Band Building.

Here's where it sounds like the new Maple Hill dorm will be.  When they tore down the Fulbright dorm they put in a parking lot.  Looks like yet another parking lot biting the dust.  You can see Reid in the background.

Here's the Chemistry Building they are renovating.  A bit hard to see but parts of the building look quite a bit gutted.

Here's some pics around Kimpel Hall and the Walton Business Building or whatever they're calling it.  I'm not sure if all of this is the same project or not.  I know they're adding on to the Business Building but I didn't know it could be by this much.  But some of this might be part of another project.

I don't really have anything of substance to add to this thread, but
enjoyed seeing the photos & information about another SEC West campus. Thanks !
