Yeah, people in Philly are upset. That race was a big deal in that area for a very long time.

Did everyone see Hincapie's editorial in yesterdays paper? This race really will be something great for Greenville. I can't wait.

On my flight back in last night, chatted with a Salt Lake City based flight attendant whose son is all into cycling.  He visited Greenville last year and now she said he's all about moving to Greenville.   :D   george Hincapie and the cycling scene are creating EXCELLENT PR for Greenville!

It is moments like that when I get chills of delight and pride flowing all over my body.  I can totally totally understand this situation.

Thanks gsupstate!

There were some great riders in the field.  Look for any or all of Floyd Landis, Levi Liepheimer, Dave Zabriskie, Our George, Christian VanDeVelde and Chris Horner to be factors in this year's tour.

Although I'm picking Ivan Basso to win.

Shouldn't this year's Tour de Georgia be coming up soon, too?

I think it's near the end of April, though I don't remember the exact dates.

I pulled one of those "Why ask when you can google it" moments.  Oops.

Doh!

It's April 18th through 23rd.

Starting to see alot of ads for the US Pro.  Here is a link to one for Discover Adventures.  Cool how they call Greenville "THE cycling community of all cycling communities".   :D

Excellent find, gsupstate!  Great to see more positive exposure for Greenville.  People around the nation will be taking a closer look at the City as a result of this ultimate cycling championship. :D

I just finished reading through this link.  Thanks Skyliner!     The link talks about the economic impact of this event, and it's going to be big!!  Georgia has a professional cycling event, "Tour de Georgia", and the Georgia governor listed it as one of the top 12 economic developments in Georgia for 2005.     The US Pro is a similar event, but I would think larger....imagine the dollars this is going to generate for Greenville, Upstate, and all of SC!

I really love the sound of this:  "The Cliffs USA Cycling Pro Championships will take place on a grand scale potentially drawing hundreds of thousands of people to participate in and witness the multiple race-related venues and events."

This is a report published in mid-November which casts a bit of light on one of the reasons Philly lost the race.  Rather interesting...
