I really should start breaking down these large topics, so I've decided to make a Bentonville Thread.

The First news on Bentonville is that eight more schools will be needed in the Bentonville School District by 2015.

These schools would be:

Five more elementary schools — bringing the district’s total to 14 — will be needed by 2015 with the first to open as early as 2011.

A fourth middle school will be needed by 2010 or 2011.

A third junior high school will be needed by 2014 or 2015.

A second high school will be needed by 2010 or 2011.

Several factors are change the district’s building needs. For one, the district has been growing faster than 7.5 percent. The district’s average the last couple of years has been between 8 and 9 percent.

Yeah the way the growth is going there are going to be a lot of new schools.  I think that's another thing I've noticed.  Quite a number of people that have moved in have families.  Not to say there aren't a number of single people moving in either but it just seems like people have families and sometimes larger families than I usually see in other areas.

Actually I didn't mean him.  But it just seems there are quite a few families I've seen up here with 3 or 4 children.  Which of course also means there can be more children than average for the school systems here.  I can't say there are more children than other places.  But it does seem like I see larger families here than I recall in other places.

Great thanks for the info.  I don't know if I've seen Fayetteville post there's like this.  Guess I'll have to take a look sometime.

It looks like the 4 story mixed use building proposed for Bentonville may have hit a snag. The Developers want to put in 11 condos on the top floor, but there's no room for parking, and parking on the bottom floor would be unfeasable.

It looks like he ice rink in Downtown Bentonville has drawn 4,500 people to skate in the first two weeks.

I wish we had something like that down here.  Even though I admit I have no idea how to skate.  But I'm sure I could get some interesting pics.   :D

I bet it would be popular in Fayetteville.

The city actually pays for it to be built, because they know that once the people are done skating, they will shop at the downtown stores, eat at the restaurants, etc.

It looks like the Bentonville Planning Comission approved the 4 story 50,000-square-foot, mixed-use building at 120 W. Central, across from City Hall and the Massey Building.

The structure is suppose to have retail, office and commercial space, and up to 11 residential units on the fourth floor. The condominiums, ranging from 700 to 1,200 square feet, will be for sale.

I'm suprised it was approved because they had concerns about where to get 22 parking spaces for the residential units.

Has anyone heard about the plans to build the new Bentonville Public Library? It's going to be a bit more traditional than Fayetteville's new library, but it's supposed to have an enhanced children's area and a coffee shop.

Hot Springs has an ice skating rink too.  My family is going in the next few days.  It's very popular.

Bentonville library sounds interesting.  Garland County could use a new one.

Yes, the library is suppose to be called the Tom Coughlin Library or something, and it's suppose to have a coffee shop in it like Fayetteville's. It's under construction I think.

Any idea what coffeeshop it might be?

No idea on the coffeeshop.

I'm actually in support of one in Downtown Fayetteville near the square or something.

A coffeeshop? There is one near the Square, Jammin Java is just off the Square right next to the Fayetteville Town Center.
