I've heard about this one, but haven't heard any news on the tenants.

It looks pretty weird for a mall, but I shouldn't be suprised since it's in Dubai.

I did some searching and found some info on this project.

Zabeel Park should include a 45-metre high Panoramic Tower, Technology Zone that comprises technological interactive displays, Space Maze, which is an electronic maze, Sports Area including sports courts and clubhouse, Barcode Garden, which includes hi-tech displays and water features, and Alternative Energy Zone featuring interactive displays on alternative energy such as solar, wind, geo-thermal tidal, etc.

The park also consists of a lake provided with water cascades, wave machine, geyser, boat hiring, laser projection on water screen in the lake, and a lakeside restaurant, and skate park. Other features include the Mega Bowl amphitheatre with a seating capacity of 2,000, for group wedding parties, and services required for different types of performances, Imax Theatre with a seating capacity of 450, associated with retail and food and beverages facilities; BMX trail, adventure play area, and adventure golf; function plaza for special occasions such as launching a new product, small special markets and parties; as well as road train, water gardens and water features, retail and food and beverages outlets, exhibition building, coffee shop and other amenity buildings.

Also,

A spaceship-themed edutainment centre will be built which should be open by 2006. The Stargate Family Edutainment Centre when completed will attract around one million people annually to the facility. The edutainment centre will cover 260,000 square feet and will have part of the facilities underground.

The complex will include retail kiosks, exhibition wings, dining outlets, coffee shops, a children's education academy and nursery. The centre will have five dome-shaped fun zones – Saturn, Mars, Earth, a UFO zone and the moon. A pair of two aliens, Ajeeb and Gareeb, will be the hosts at the center, and will have a capacity for 5,000 visitors.

In Saturn, families can enjoy the integrated and futuristic 80x40-foot 3D theatre, where edutainment experiences are brought to life via advanced laser shows. Mars contains a children's play area called Zero Gravity that includes a roller skating track, climbing walls, a room for birthday parties as well as a colourful fun area for younger children. Earth has an electric indoor go-karting track.

The futuristic UFO zone will have a robotic simulated ride and sophisticated 4D virtual reality rides, while the Moon will house a lunar ice-skating rink, with artificial snow falling every 30 minutes on the moon-style landscape (More Snow in Dubai).

The underground area also houses the Stargate Academy which offers pre-scheduled classes in classical arts, information technology, music and martial arts along with a world-class nursery. The under-construction Zabeel Park is set to be the largest technology theme park in the Middle East.

So I guess this makes this a pretty large tourist project. I thought it was just like a small city park, but it seems to be an extremely large investment and project.

A very interesting space theme.  It's getting hard thinking of what Dubai doesn't have.

Zabeel Park is set to open its doors to the public on Tuesday.

The park, spread over 47 hectares of land on Shaikh Zayed Road between the Trade Centre Roundabout, Zabeel Road and Shaikh Rashid Road (Karama), is aimed at boosting domestic and international tourism in Dubai. It is divided into three plots, all of which are interlinked by pedestrian bridges.

The Dh200 million park comprises a number of provisions including food courts, a cricket pitch, amphitheatre, exhibition centres and special facilities for boating.

The park has been divided into three zones of 281,000 square metres, 162,000 square metres and 22,000 square metres.

The main attraction of the park will be a mega bowl, which will be used for organising multi-purpose activities including weddings, parties, birthday functions and other events associated with college and business establishments.

Apart from functions, the mega bowl will be used to conduct exhibitions and shows from time to time. A terraced seating arrangement in the mega bowl will accommodate 2,000 people at any one time. A mini-cricket pitch also forms part of Zabeel Park. Although not as big as a cricket ground, the mini-cricket field with a standard pitch and outfield promises to provide plenty of entertainment for cricket fans. Another of the park's main features include a 4.3 kilometre jogging track. The park will also feature a series of high-tech interactive displays including educational and recreational exhibits grouped into three zones.

These are the Alternative Energy Zone, the Communications Zone and a Techno Zone. An Imax theatre, panoramic tower, a space maze modelled on the planetary system and other technology-based attractions will be some of the park's other attractions.

A range of leisure activities at technology-themed garden

Some pics. Please keep in mind these photos were taken at around 12 in the day when most people are working. Also the photographer said he tried to avoid a lot of people in the photos. According to him this park pretty full most of the time:
