Hanes Mall Blvd is going to get a little bit busier with the opening of a Broyhill Funiture Gallery at Shoppes on Little Creek. It is going to be quite a huge store at 50,000 square feet with an opening date of this fall. We have 3 tenants so far for this development and they are Ethan Allen, Texas Land and Cattle, and Broyhill.

Here's the full story.

What?  W-S is getting a new store before any other city in NC?  thats rare around here.

Anyways, looks like this area could see another wave of new activity towards the end of the year.  a new large business park is proposed for W-S...and it will actually be well inside the city limits.  im suprised lots this size are still available in SW Winston.  This VA Beach developer is also plannng two other projects inside the city limits.  One will be multi-family residential and the other will be similar to this project...named .Salem Creek Industrial Park

I agree with you. We always get everything last after every other big town in NC like Charlotte, Raleigh, G'boro, and in some cases Durham. I wonder what they eyed in this area?

Winston-Salem got Abercrombie & Fitch and Hollister before other NC cities.  Sam's Club, too.

We also seem to be the first to get a Maui Nix in the entire rest of the country besides Orlando, Miami, Ft. Lauderdale, Daytona Beach, and Coconut Grove. What's up with that? It is kind of random because what do we have here that the rest of the states don't?

Yep.  Winston-Salem got one of the frst Sam's Clubs back in the late '80s.  Abercrombie opened in 1992 at Hanes Mall (compare this to 1994 in Greensboro and 1999 in Charlotte).  They also got one of the first Hollister stores about 3-4 years ago (compare this to 2004 in Charlotte and 2005 in Greensboro)

There was a Hilton proposed at one time in downtown wasn't there? I think we might get one in the next 10 years or less, and I think that the Marriott and Embassy Suites will really increase our chances.

Forever 21 is a possibility, but Hilton is a long shot unless one of the nicer hotels decides to switch brands.  There are already a lot of hotel rooms in town, and the market for nicer ones hasn't moved in years.

When did Abercrombie & Fitch come to the Triangle? I know there was one at South Square and Crabtree (of course TTC and Southpoint got them when they opened). I seriously doubt North Hills had one...not sure if Cary Towne Center ever had one...

I wonder why there’s a Michaels arts and craft store by Office Max at the mall, and one coming soon beside Target?

They are moving from the one on Stratford to the former Rhodes Furniture Store that is next to Target on Hanes Mall Blvd. Personally I like their other location on Stratford better than Hanes Mall because it was more pleasant and they just screwed this whole building up by dividing it in half. They should have left the glass part, it was unique!

Abercrombie & Fitch came to the Triangle at Crabtree Valley Mall in 1992, just after they opened at Hanes Mall.  They opened in South Square Mall somewhere around 1996 or '97.  There have never been Abercrombie & Fitch stores at North Hills or Cary Towne Center.

I wonder why....they seem to be wealthy areas and that store is made for those types of incomes.

Wow.  No idea WS got these stores so much earlier than Clt!

I think in the case of NH, is that it was just so close to CTV Mall.

North hills hasn't had a young, hip following since Crabtree Valley opened.  It's typically been a mall focused on the older, more conservative folks, and the stores at the mall reflected this.  They did have Structure, Express and Gap, but those were overshadowed by old-line retailers like Ivey's, Nowell's, Roscoe Griffin and Montaldo's
