You're right. I honestly couldn't remember. Neiman Marcus is already on the main concourse. the upper level was an addition to Lenox.

Neiman Marcus at Lenox is currently 154,000 square feet. The expansion will bring the total to 206,000 square feet. The 35,000 sq. ft. expansion will be seperate from that total. Again, IIRC!

What I do know is NM at Mall of Millenia is just under 100,000 sq. ft. :) The Charlotte store, however, is one of the smallest in the chain (until the boutique stores open later this year). It's just under 90,000 sq. ft. Makes me mad...

Well CBV.....you could always do like some of your fellow citizens and fly to NYC to shop at their much larger NM.

Seriously though, 206,000 square feet is quite large. I guess this goes to solidify Atlanta's voracious appetite for consumer goods.

Although I do fly to Manhattan to shop on occasion, I've yet to shop at NM there...   ;)

Wow! Flying to Manhattan just to shop? Some of the posters on UP seem way above my level :shok:

I hope Atlanta (Lenox) gets a Ruehl. DC is just too far away!

As an advent shopper, I have to agree with you. I went to the Ruehl @ Tampa's International Plaza during Spring Break a lil' over a week ago & was disappointed to find out that there is not a store here in Atlanta!!!

The current store is just over 150,000 square feet. It will expand to over 200,000 square feet

Which will make it over 2 times as big as Charlotte's NM store

Why on earth would anyone shop at Neiman Marcus in NYC when you have the whole 5th avenue and everything else.......Isnt Dallas' NM's the biggest ones since it is based there?

Technically, there are no Neiman Marcus stores in Manhattan; however, the company that owns Neiman's also owns Bergdorf Goodman.  There is one in White Plains, not too far up the freeway for those loyal shoppers.

Wow, was I ever off on the size of Neimans at Millenia. I must have been thinking of Bloomingdale's. I know one of the dept. stores there is very small.

Shopping in NYC makes sense, especially if you can get a cheap ticket and do a day trip; the department stores (Saks, Bergdorf's, Lord & Taylor, Bloomingdale's and Macy's) are just huge and have so much more selection than a typical mall-size department store in suburbia- and the prices are sometimes a lot cheaper than in Charlotte, at least.

You could say that about any store that is in NYC or any new store in NYC. If there was a NM in NYC, I'm sure it would be a huge success. In other words, your statement is ridiculous.

I have been to the flagship Neiman Marcus in Dallas- a sluggish downtown department store.  Maybe the one at NorthPark is a nice, thriving place- but the downtown one is pretty quiet and needs some updating.

You are correct. There is no NM in Manhattan. I wouldn't go to Westchester or Long Island for one either. Besides, both those stores are smaller than the one in Atlanta. The Atlanta NM is one of the largest in the chain. It was one of the first expansions outside of Texas, so the store is bigger than the typical newer NM.

If I had a Bergdorf Goodman nearby, I wouldn't pass it up to go to a Neiman Marcus in the suburbs either.

I agree; I would shop at Bergdorf's over a suburban Neiman Marcus; Bergdorf's is huge; I don't know the exact sf of it, but there is a massive women's store and a smaller men's store across the street.  The Neiman Marcus corporate website has a list of all of the NM/Bergdorf stores, their opening dates and the square footage of each.

Perhaps it's just my impression but Bergdorf's seems even more upscale than Neiman Marcus, if that's possible- at least a lot more upscale than the one in downtown Dallas, which seemed kind of like a 1950's version of a moderately upscale department store (not as chi-chi as the one at Lenox).

List of stores that I don't understand why Atlanta doesn't have already:
1) Ruehl
2) Chanel
3) Fendi
4) Dior
5) Zegna
6) Manolo Blahnik
7) Prada

Bergdorf Goodman has a lot of lines that are pretty much exclusive to that store.  That places them on a high level, but the Neiman Marcus stores in Chicago, San Francisco, Beverly Hills, Houston Galleria and NorthPark (Dallas) are pretty even with Bergdorf Goodman overall.

When Neiman Marcus expansion finishes in 2007 and the new section of Lenox opens How many new stores could go in That slot?  Also i was reading that atlanta is getting a barney's new york sometime in 2008.  Is this location to be on Peachtree Road?
