I would bet on the now defunct Gooney Birds on Reidville Road or the old Prime Sirloin on 29 near the new Kohls.  I would love, however, to see a real visible Hooters at Summit Point next to the Spartan 16.

Spartan, you are a great moderator for UP and a great Spartanburg booster as well!
Thanks

Those are good locations too. I think the Summit Point offers the most visibility and access, being that its near the interstate, the mall, and the largest movie theater in Spartanburg.

I've heard that Hooters was building in the Best Buy/Lowes Shopping Center.

Where would they build? Maybe I'm wrong, but I thought all of the outparcels in that shopping center were full?

Looks as though the Eastside Longhorn Steak House will be closing. They say it still makes a profit, but its old and small, and it can't handle the new menu items. I hope that Longhorn will decide to reopen further down the street soon. Actually, I dont see why it wouldn't, seeing as how their old location made money for them.

I can't understand why they don't just build a new restaurant and keep the old one running until it opens.  Longhorn is always busy and their food and service are excellent.

Todays H-J reports that Olive Garden will locate at US-29 across from Dorman Center.  This is great news for all of us who have been begging Olive Garden to come to Spartanburg.

That's awesome news.  I wish they would have placed it over besides the City Range to spur more restaurants over there, but this is still a great location right on Hwy. 29.  Can't wait.

Also sounds like Dunkin' Donuts is looking to get back in Spartanburg with two locations.

Indeed. its about time!

Also, its Dunkin' Donuts ;)

There has to be something weird going on with the Summit Pointe project. That area is in a great location, but its been well over 2 years since anything new has started there (except City Range)

Wonder if the cost differentiation in relation to nearby property is a major factor?

I suppose anything is possible, but I doubt that is a cause. Its more likely bumbling on the developer's part. Thats just my opinion though.

Lime Leaf is set to open this week: Article

Here is an older picture of the bulidings nearby.

I have had two very good dinners at the Lime Leaf.  I highly recomed giving it a try.  It is a cozy little resturant, has a nice bar,  the service is good, the food great and the prices are very reasonable. Dinner for two with a couple of drinks- $45.00   Let's do all we can to support our resturants Downtown .

Thanks Hemlock86 for the review.  I'm anxious to try out Lime Leaf.

Was just walking back from Monsoon and saw a coming soon sign at the International Bijou for 'Sabor a Mexico".  Underneath it said mexican food, but I don't know if it is a restaurant or a market.  Either way, it is good to see a tenant coming to that property.  Hopefully more will follow.

Wow a mexican food place downtown would be the jackpot for me. I love that stuff. And downtown.

I took this picture the other day. I think its pretty self explanatory, but its still exciting to me:

Its in the Bijou Market, which I did not realize was an arcade-style structure. It goes waaay back, and the spot to to right of Sabor is for lease.

Best Italian was Stefano's, hands down

Are you kidding me... I'm italian and i thought that Stephanos was pretty average and overpriced... The two italian restaurants that I think are KILLER are:

Renatos... A bit high end... but worth the money

Dantes... The dude in there is typically drunk... The place looks like a dump from the outside... BUT... I've NEVER had a bad meal there...

Now... for my forte... I grew up in Sunny Cali... I KNOW good Mexican food. Hands DOWN... there is NOTHING in Spartanburg in the league of Mexico Lindo! Some of my favorites there:
Carne Asada Tacos
Grouper Diabla (ohhhhh)
Mahi Mahi Tacos
Anything Mariscos
Blue Corn Nachos are AWESOME!
Blue Corn Enchiladas... I had them for the first time this past week...
Moster Burrito or Fajita Burrito
However, I think my absolute favorite might me this new thing they are doing with pineapple. It is Steak, Chicken, Mexican Sausage, and I think Shrimp on top of pineapple with all the rest of the mexican tastes... If you have not tried this... better get there quick... This is just on the menu until pineapple season goes away... SOON.

Man... I've gotta go... I'm so HUNGRY!!! :D

Ahhh... almost forgot...

I'm not sure of the location... But... Olive Garden IS Definitley coming... I got an email looking for construction bids!!!

Olive Garden is going to be at Ezell and Westgate Mall Dr (where that church used to be). Behind it is a cemetary... its right near Golden Corral.

Welcome to the forum Wolvie !

Holmes Lunch aka Holmes Hotdogs is just up from Westgate Mall in Arcadia.  It's been around for years and years and years.  The original owner's daughter and son-in-law now operate it, I believe.

I had lunch there about three years ago and, to be candid with you, wasn't all that impressed.  Ike's Corner Grill is much better for this sort of fare.  That said, throngs of working men and women eat lunch at Holmes every day That alone tells you something!

Ike's is the best for hamburgers, but Holmes does make a good hotdog.
