The new patient simulator center is opening today at Health Sciences South Carolina:

This is a real asset to Greenville and the region, because it allows students to practice on these robots before moving on to patients.  I have not gotten to use one before, but I did see one when I interviewed at another medical school and they are great.  They are sort of like robots that present with symptoms, and you "treat" them and they respond.  They even keep a log of how each student performs and the decisions that are made.

I know this is probably not extremely interesting to most readers, but it definitely puts GHSUMC at the forefront in terms of technology in this area.  MUSC certainly does not have them, and I doubt USC does either.

The first building of the GHS University Medical Center is moving right along.  Much larger than I thought it would be....5 to 6 levels on one side......underground parking.......sizable footprint.

Im helping lay the brick on that building right now.  The big rotunda is very neat i think on the entrance.

^  I agree about the rotunda.  When viewing it from Grove Road, it's very impressive.  Much larger building than I expected.

The University Medical Center building is progressing well.  Entrances are built from Grove Road and landscaping (curbs, sidewalks, etc) has started.

Any idea when the University will actually start using the new facility?  Looks like interior construction is still going on.

Work is well underway now for the USC medical school. Also, plans are moving forward for a new 64,000 square foot facility on the main campus that will house New Horizon Family Health Services according to the Greenville News. Greenville Hospital System is helping the company out by giving them a $10 million loan. $14 million is needed in all to begin construction.
