Does Dubai really need to build that big of a Police Station?

I thought crime was traditionally low in Dubai.

It's the general HQ in a city of 1.5 million. I'm sure it's needed. It's kind of hard to believe crime is low there since there are so many people from different countries you'd think there'd be some clashes, etc. They've got quite a big police force as far as I know and is one of the reasons why crime is low

Well, I think there are many reasons for low crime rate despite having so many people of different cultural background. Most people that come into Dubai are here under sponsorship of an employer...so they are all employed. The locals (employed or otherwise) are well taken care off by the govt. Also, the general approach to crime is quite strict...you are guilty untill proven innocent...so people generally dont think its worth getting into petty crime....A lot of people may argue thats unfair, but I kinda like the approach because chances are that if its probable that you did it...that means you "DID IT"...OJ Simpson would have never gotten away in Dubai
