I'm glad to see that the project is getting under way.  I didn't see anywhere a listing of the height of the project.

My brother lives 3 blocks from there.  He's looking forward to a grocery strore in his neighborhood.

It's a bit further from where I'm at in Elliot Park, but its close enough for doing groceries on a bicycle.

I'm right across the street from it.   Although Whole Foods is a bit pricey. But I'll just use the money I'm saving on gas to Cub Foods at Whole Foods. That should allow me to buy half an organic banana with my savings.

I'm diggin' having more food shopping options in DT MPLS.  Developments such as this, along with the 2 Lunds that are set to be completed by the end of this year, will definitely help keep people here in the near future.

Looks like the condos will cost $500-$740 per square foot.  :shok: Bloody hell!

Ditto!  That's more than The Nicollet as far as I know...

It's so insane.  300k-400k would be more appropriate.  Why do you think the market is slowing?  People are going to stop paying those prices for 1000 sft.  Luckily I like my condo. as I believe I will be here for a while given the inabiity of my neighbors to sell.

Here's a quick update from the Downtown Journal.
-290 high-end condos
-76,000-square-foot Whole Foods
-Two towers — 35 stories on Hennepin and 22 stories on Washington — joined to create an L-shape above Whole Foods
-Acre-plus park, with public and private areas
-Green space above the Whole Foods will feature a swimming pool, barbecue area, and possibly a putting green and bocce ball lanes for residents; a smaller landscaped area will be open to the public, with off-street seating for Whole Foods customers or other passersby.
-The condo towers will include a fitness center, theater, business center, game room, guest rooms and 24-hour concierge.
-The non-penthouse unit sizes will range from 650-square-foot one-bedrooms to 1,700-square-foot two bedrooms with dens.
-Units could range from $300,000-$2 million. Penthouses would be even more expensive.
-Depending on strength of presales, the project is expected to be complete by 2009.

I'm all for it.  Can't help it, I simply like the fact of having more public green space, and the off-street seating will be a nice touch, too.

Anyplace on the web to see renderings of the 222? I'm dying to see what this place will look like. (I missed a neighborhood meeting about it as well).

Here's a quick update on this project.

- The the two towers have been consolidated into one, 33-story tower for maximized resident views and one tower decreases the building’s shadow profile.

- The developer has yet to finalize pricing for the 290 units, but they say the pricing will be “high-end.”

- There is no presales threshold the developer needs to meet in order to secure financing.

- Construction will start once the Jaguar dealership vacates the property in May or earlier.

Cool beans. I'm glad they scaled back to one tower, and with the Whole Foods connected, I hope this project won't be one of the impending casualties the media is buzzing about lately. I wonder if any people who are waiting for the Nicollet will pull out and go for this place. Great views on all sides and so close to the river and green spaces.

^ No need to worry. This project doesn't have to meet any presales requirements in order to secure financing. Construction starts as soon as the downtown Jag dealer relocates.
