The O reports that the FDIC will be relocating its Charlotte field office from the University area to NASCAR Plaza, occupying 16,000 sq ft in the office tower.

That is good news that some of the new tower space is filling up.  Hopefully this will stop some of the bleeding for developers who finished their buildings just as the economy tanked.

Leave it to the government to help lease space in a new office building!

2 more tenants will be taking space here.  A personal injury law firm which is based in the Triad, is moving their Charlotte office from the Univ. area to the NASCAR tower and Public Consulting Group is moving from 200 S. Tryon.

The office tower almost went into foreclosure, but ended up being sold at a substantial discount to a joint venture involving Trinity Partners (who also are owners of the Ally Bank Tower).

By buying it a discount, they are able to offer leases at a much lower rate.  It appears that they have attracted 1 tenant already.  Alcoa, the large Aluminum company, appears to be opening a small Charlotte office, which will be in the NASCAR tower.

Good to see this building finally getting some Non-NASCAR tenants.
