Interesting list.  You learn something new every day.   :)

Eminem is also a famous citizen of KC?  Does he have another house there or something?  Because I know he lives most of the time in metro Detroit, off of 26 Mile Road I believe.

He was born in St. Joseph, his mother lived there, a local station, KCTV5 tried to get him to visit her once, i dunno if it worked...
But he was born in St. Joseph nevertheless...

Why does he rep Detroit then?  I heard he didnt even move to Detroit until he was in the middle of high school.  Is St Joseph ghetto, cuz if not how does he try and pass off like he has been ghetto all his life?

I don't know really, maybe he went to St. Joe-Benton (if that is the right name) which is one of the worst violence schools near our metro (St. Joe has their own metro but are touching our metro)

KC has never been known as the Gateway to the West.  Only one city bears that distinction and you know which one it is.

Actually it has Jive, It's as much of a gateway as stl is.
Have you ever been to the State Capitol? A painting there has Gateway to the West under a painting of Kansas City. That is just one example.

KCDevin, I saw you mentioned Tony Giarratano under "famous citizens" in the original post. Is he a recognized figure in Kansas City's history? What is known about him in the KC area?

I am quite interested in hearing more, thank you.

Instead of Gateway to the West as a nickname (I for one have never heard of that), I always thought of Kansas City as a smaller "Denver East".  When I was in Denver, the people there always boasted about Kansas City and how it already was one of theirs as a western city.

Does anyone have insight or information on Tony Giarratano's life in Kansas City? Any help would be much appreciated.

Highest point as in elevation or as in highest structure?

Highest point as in elevation would be very difficult to detirmine... This is because the elevation ranges from 700ft ASL to over 1000ft ASL. And the land is so flat, there are no real mountains or tall hills... Tallest hills are 100-200ft and the bluffs are about 100ft
