Oh yeah. And I also forgot that the glitzy and glamorous place isn't really Wilmington, it's Wrightsville Beach.

Bevery Hills, Hollywood...same metro area, practically extensions of each other. My point still remains.

Beverly Hills and Hollywood are 2 seperate cities, thats the whole point. doesnt matter if they are in the same metro area. Matthews and East Charlotte, same metro....so what?

I dont know whats funny about Wilmington not being glitzy, neither is Hollywood. So I guess you could say they are similar on that point. Yes, there are very wealthy people in and around Hollywood, way more than Wilmington of course. But what does that have to do with the movie productions.

Out of that list I would vote for Miami, but my overall choice would be Wilmington NC, as someone mentioned earlier its already considered the Hollywood of the east

Technically speaking, Hollywood isn't its own city, it's a district of Los Angeles. And you can take out what I said about "glitzy" and "glamorous" (although it's merely an opinion that Hollywood isn't glitzy and glamorous) and it still doesn't detract from the fact that it is a destination for celebrities (as well as tourists) for various reasons apart from simply making films. This is something that is not true of Wilmington, for better or for worse--that was my only point. Miami shares more of a commonality with Hollywood in this regard to a far greater degree than Wilmington. So taking that aspect into account, along with the long list of movies and shows that have been shot/produced in Miami, it is the obvious winner here IMO.

Actually, I think the "glitz and glamor" factor has more to do with the number and calibur of celebrities that can be seen in a place on any given day. After all, the celebrities themselves are really the ones that determine whats glitzy and glamorous. Therefore, I thinks Krazeeboi's point should still stand :)

Yes....Dino would be pissed to not have his town included on the list. Andy Griffith may feel the same way

MIAMI of course. Now please end this thread. Can the south stand on its feet for once and allow someone to be like us. Why do we tend to feel so inferior in relation to all of the other regions of America.

100 percent agreed on every word of your post. Your also forgetting about the massive amounts of television being produced for the latin american and carribean markets which are filmed and broadcast from  Miami. Additionally Networks such as Fox News, Mtv,Vh1,Disney Channel,Hbo, Discovery Networks all have there latin american headquters  and studios in Miami.

And yes Miami is the Miami of the world.

Miami seems to win this competition. The city is so unique and exciting that television and movies are drawn to it. Hopefully other cities will get more time on film though.

A lot of movies  focusing on black, and specifically hip hop culture have been filmed here, but I'd like to see more movies and TV shows about other typed of people filmed here too.

Each city has had their moment in the TV spotlight:

Houston: Reba (very funny)

Dallas: Dallas, of course!

Atlanta: Designing Women

Nashville: All of the country music stuff

New Orleans: Cops and Girls Gone wild Mardi Gras editions (Haha) Not to mention a ton of News Coverage this year, although this isn't really positive publicity

Abd I'm sure the other cities have had their time on TV, maybe not in a series but in other things

If we're talking about movies and TV shows, New Orleans has a lot more going for it than Cops and Girls Gone Wild. The city is the center of the film production industry that is becoming very big in Louisiana. Film production studios are being planned and built throughout the city, and I believe there are 3 different feautre films being filmed in New Orleans right now, and that number would be much higher if Katrina had not rolled through. The TV show "Thief" on the FX Network is set and partially filmed in New Orleans, though Katrina forced most of the filming to Shreveport, along with many other TV shows and movies. Also, there are many movies filmed in parts of New Orleans that are not set there. I've seen some movies that have used Uptown to double as another location, as well as downtown, Mid-City, including the Fairgrounds Racetrack, and Zephyrs Stadium over in Metairie. The film industry is very busy in New Orleans right now, and the activity is picking up more every day.
