aloft Tallahassee Downtown
OPENING JUNE 2009

Posted Image

This is an update on the previously discussed Floridan Block development. Previously we discussed the Hyatt Place hotel joining the 90,000 sq. ft. office building on the block. Now it appears developers want to move forward with a different hotel, similar in concept but a little different.

Don't tease meTJ!

W Hotels are the hottest hippest hotels out there.  I realize that this a smaller type hotel of their's but still....DAMMMMMMMNNNNNNN!

IMO this would be terrific for Tally...just terrific!

I like the residential W also.. It would be awsome.  Not a one has a bad design.

And how about the cities that W is in...

wow. i like it. very slick, clean and modern.  i hope the bar/lounge that would have the same cool feel to it... not just a lame regular hotel bar, but something special... nightlife is what it's all about.

Well that was very cool news. Tally definitely needs some non-traditional additions to downtown. Very exciting!

I'd say I agree also... but hopefully this won't be the last of the hotels we'll get downtown. I think it'll be nice when built.

A little bit of something is better than a whole lot of nothing.

Normally I too want more height to bldgs. downtown, but if this one is gonna be a W concept hotel, I could care less if it was all underground in a bunker.  It's a W concept that will bring hip and funk to Tally and that's something we damn sure need.

Agreed poonther! Getting a W concept hotel would be a coup for our downtown...a funky hotel bar would be most appreciated especially since right now we don't have something like that yet downtown (I am waiting on you Cool Grindz!)

I believe this is the hotel we'll hear about in Sunday's paper and possibly the Marriott Convention center.  Unless the city was successful in convencing the developer to go more upscale with this project.

An Aloft Hotel WILL be upscale for Tally and IMO a fine choice for the young demographic of our city.  I'd rather have a hip/chic boutique hotel in the downtown than a stuffy pretentious conventional type hotel.
