I forget, how many stories is the hotel going to be?

Seven, I think?

My guess is that it should top out about ten feet higher than the neighbouring courthouse to the south.  I can't believe they've already done some of the pillars.  Did they finish the base that quick?

One thing that really impresses me about this project is the amount or workers that they have on this project.  Every morning and Afternoon the site is filled with construction workers and they are bustin-@$$.  At the rate they are going this place will be done in no time!

Interesting perspective spc.  I must say if that's the case, then I'm a little disappointed in the height.  I rarely if ever tend to notice the courthouse building in terms of height.  Do you?  On that subject, I think a fatal flaw in that courthouse bldg. was having it face Adams.  Don't get me wrong, it's a beautiful entry area especially w/the live oaks on Adams, but honestly how many times do folks ever see that view?  Seldom I'd think.  I believe that Monroe is the main street, so why would you put your back door (actually there isn't one) facing it?  I'm not a fan of the "bunker" look we get from this building on Monroe.  I think having the bldg. face Monroe would have added to the liveliness of Monroe, you?

So help me out here spc, if Aloft will be approx ten feet taller than the CH, will be it taller or shorter in your opinion than the Radisson/Park Place/Hotel Duval up the street on Monroe?

I would say that ten feet errs on the conservative side.  I strongly believe that it will top out at no more than 25 feet higher.  Seven hotel/residential size stories probably wont end up looking too tall (half the height of the Tenny), but I think it will establish the lot nicely for the Floridan.  Compared to the PP, pre-re-roofing the Aloft would likely be taller, post, it would likely not.  I'm just glad to see the corner moving at all!

^Oh I am too.  I'm a little confuse spc, can you rank/list in term of height the Aloft, CH and Radisson/PP with and without the new roof-top feature.  I realize this is just your opinion and you are making a guess-a-ment, so I won't hold you to it if it's wrong.

I appreciate it.  Height and square footage are always things I have trouble conceptualizing.

Err lets see here, starting with the shortest:
4. Courthouse
3. PP minus new roof (not counting ugly HVAC unit on top)
2. Aloft
1. PP with new roof (Hotel Duval)

Yea, They always seem to be busting it on this project, Tallahassee is really booming now in spite of the economic slowdown, i believe we are the bright spot in the economy!

Thanks for the simplification spc!

You bring up a good point about the HVAC unit on top of the PP/Radisson.  Will they relocate it when they do the roof top renovation or will they simply just try and mask it w/a false facade?

I am amazed at the rate this thing has risen.  Judging from earlier posts, it seems there was nothing more than a few pillars in the ground in early July.  Here we are, not even two months later, and they are on the verge of pouring the sixth story.  Very impressive work.  I'm almost afraid we won't have anything to see under contstruction downtown for the first time since 2004 pretty soon.  C'mon Florida Retail Federation Building....

Any one notice the Long Florescent lights that travel Horizontal along the Building?  They look to be about 25' long and one for each floor and staggered.  They look like a dark beep purple but may look different at night.  I saw them on during the day for a test run.  Cant wait to see how they look at night.  This will bring alot of "life" and pizazz to downtown.  It wont look so dreary anymore.
