A building permit was issued yesterday for Genghis Grill valued at $225,000. Merolina Builders Inc. is the contractor.

I think the appropriate local response is "Bout Dang Time!" (picture kids banging forks and knives on the table demanding dinner.  Yeah, that's me.)

Though they are a little difficult to see in this photo, there are three concrete pads similar to the ones anchoring the braces for the flying awning seen on the storefront shown in RestedTraveler's post of June 23.
The exterior will be slightly different.  Instead of the brick red dryvit shown in the above photos, the front of the new location at The Point is the dark gray corrugated metal.  Looking nice when I was by there today.

Based on the photos and descriptions above, it will probably look more like this one in SoCal:

Does anyone know when the Genghis Grill is going to open? I'm trying my hardest to wait patiently. It's not easy when your taste buds are screaming out for it. Constantly.

Not sure but the coming soon sign for the restaurant is now up on the side of the building. Also, Liberty Mutual has leased the two empty small shop spaces between Whole Foods Market and REI. Tenant upfit has started for that.

It's at The Point at the end of the strip mall with Whole Foods and the new REI.  It used to be the building where Doc Chey's was.  (It's behind the Chipotle, so you may not see it from Woodruff.

Construction has started on the Verandas apartment project expansion. Petco is coming along nicely. Complete Nutrition is now open in the old Keva space. Famous Hair is now being upfitted in the last remaining tenant space within the Shops portion of the Point.

Is anything planned for the huge building that was once going to be torn down and replaced by that amazing urban node of activity (AKA Greenville's "second downtown")?

Former Bob Evans/chinese restaurant has been leased apparently. Not sure what is planned for it at this time though.

Ah, the long-sought La Parrilla. Does this mean the former Bob Evans/Ni Hao building will be replaced or just renovated? If they were going to build at Magnolia, they must have a sizable construction budget, and I think most (if not all) recent La Parrilla openings have been new construction. If a renovation project, it surely must be extensive, including major exterior as well as interior changes. Can you say "extreme makeover"?

Is anything happening with The Aventine?  When I landed Friday, we flew directly over and still just dirt from what I could tell.  Thought they had a fall opening?  Don't see how.
