Don't think anyone has posted the website for McChesney (who will be doing the project at The Point) yet.  Below is the link.  They've done some unique developments.

New restaurant announced for the Point that will be built next to Azia and include 54 televisions: http://greenvilleonl...INESS/704200373

-Is this new restaurant announced going in where we thought Fleming's Steakhouse was?  :dontknow:
Indigo Joes will be going in next to Red Robin, if I understood everything I heard recently.  The Crosland website should have an update by now, I would assume.

That was the one, sorry.  I have been sick for several days and everything is still foggy.  I had heard about both places, but got them confused.

^^Oh, ok. I was getting confused for a second on what you said in your last post. So, I guess this means we won't be getting a Fleming's Steakhouse then?

Wasn't Fleming's supposed to go in front of The Shops at The Point?  If so, it is still a possibility as nothing else has been proposed for that spot yet, that I am aware of.

^^I believe so. It was supposed to go on that spot under construction right now across Market Point Drive or whatever it's called from Bob Evans that O'Charley's was originally going to go on in front of Doc Chey's. I thought that was going to be the Indigo Joe's though seeing how there is nothing else under construction at the Point right now that could be completed by August except for Azia and Staybridge Suites. The other thing under construction near Boyles Furniture and next to Frontage Road is going to be a Homewood Suites or Hilton Garden Inn. This is really starting to confuse me. It's either going to be a Fleming's Steakhouse, Indigo Joe's, or an O'Charley's.

I was doing some work on the site in front of Doc Chey's, all the work that I did is just infrastructure
work, just getting water and sewer onto the site, but I was told it was going to be a steakhouse.
Also the lot next to Azia was sold 1/17/07 to a company called Tiger Paw LLC. from Fountain Inn.

Not a very good photo but it was taken for work.

Have they started building anything next to Azia though?

Does anyone know which hotel is currently going in at The Point?  Construction is underway on what is obviously a hotel, next to Boyles Furniture.  Is this the Homewood or Hilton Garden?  No signs are up.

Hmmm. dunno. I hope it's got about the same amount of height as the Drury.

Well I'm gonna give it a shot in the dark but by knowing that hotel chains for the most part usually stick to the same configurations for most of their hotels. i.e. Hilton Garden Inn in Charleston, Columbia, and Anderson look exactly the same, so and so forth. Given the way I saw the foundation going in it looks to me like a Hilton Garden Inn. Homewood suites if I'm not mistaken usually have a broader U shape. I could be wrong. But thats my best guess.

Someone needs to get out and take a few progress photos of the new Homewood Suites.  A friend told me that the walls are going up now and a sign is facing the interstate. :shades:

I was going topost this 2 days ago that I was indeed wrong that it is a Homewood Suites and not Hilton Garden Inn. Sorry dont have a functioning digital cam, but the first floor is starting to take shape. Looks more of an L shape than a U shape though of course I could be wrong I was going 70 at the time coming off 85 onto 385.

There is a public hearing today on the McChesney project out at the point. Seeing as how we have hotels with 100 to 150 rooms   usually in the neighborhood of 6 to 10 floors I just wonder how large a 420 room hotel could be. This is a great project that wouldn't have as big an impact on Woodruff road traffic as everyone would like to think. I hope it doesn't get the ax like the other projects have recently.

HERE is a link to a Greenville News article about this hearing.

This almost sounds like our little mini version of Atlantic Station.

I hope the nay-sayers don't show up. I'm afraid that the way that The Greenville News painted the picture of the development that opposition will be very large in number. I'm sure very few people will be from the City, so I say don't listen to them unless they want to be annexed  :silly:

Well. Here's to hoping this gets approval as it stands today (not modified)  :alc:

The thing I did not like to see in that article was that fact that the city already asked them to scale it back some.  I would be curious to know what the original plan called for.
