A couple develop-bits from the Short Pump area:

The former Blockbuster store in Short Pump Crossing at Pump and Broad is becoming an Advanced Auto Parts.

The Olive Garden at the Corner at Short Pump should be opening by the end of the month.

The Hotel Sierra in Short Pump Town Center Mall is now officially a Hyatt House.

Not only in Short Pump but in the entire Richmond area, Ben Franklin stores will become A.C. Moore stores.

Based on the sheer number of cars in the lot starting this weekend (lots!), I'd say they've met their goal of opening by the end of the month.

Read on the RTD this morning that there is gonna be a 420 Unit Apartment complex at Bacova Drive and North Gayton Road done by the Breeden company which developed the town center west development. Its hard to believe that the final parts of short pump are being built out. Its on the bizz buzz section of the RTD done by Lou Louvio.

It hasn't been built yet and already it looks dated--a very underwhelming design. Considering Towne Center West isn't fully leased, let alone fully built out I guess it's better that the Breeden Company is sticking to just apartments this time around.

Breeden called it "urban." What a load of crap.

Will the new Gayton Rd./West Broad St. intersection be the future home to an LEED-friendly office park? The SHORT PUMP PROFESSIONAL CENTER is hoped to be up for lease by Richmond-based leading lease offices Thalhimer. They hope to have at least ONE 100,000 square foot office building up by the second quarter of 2014.
