In Columbia County:

I just read an interesting article on an archelogical study done on the Marshall Square site.  Apparently they have found some historic gravesites there, dating back before the Civil War.   There also apparently is a large slave gravesite "nearby" according to the archeologist.  There possible could be 600 slave graves located between Industrial Park Dr. and the Savannah River.  If evidence of this is confirmed, then it would be the largest slave Cemetary in the country; currently the largest is in New York.
