Almost every city thread has a photo of the day forum, so I figured Id start one big one for the South.  Id like to see what everyone has to offer.  One big Southern picture share

Very cool idea for a thread. This forum is basically nothing but a bunch of polls, so it's nice to see a thread like this in here. I'm with you on the fact that basically every city on this site has a similar thread, so why not have a thread for people to post images of their southern cities?

This is a photo from Shreveport, Louisiana, showing two old, historic parking garages with the backdrop of a modern building, the Louisiana Tower (aka Capital One Bank Tower.) I think the historic buildings look awesome in front of 20+ story the modern building.

I'm going to have to brag on Mith242 here....

Here's a shot of Hot Springs, Arkansas...(my home city).....all the pics were taken by Mith242

Those collection of buildings to the right are the center of the downtown strip that runs through the Hot Springs valley.  (I actually reside in the big beish building in the upper right center...)

Here's a close up for perspective (i hope I'm not hijacking):

Lots of nice pictures in this thread.  Hot Springs looks like a nice town, the family and I plan to rent a cabin soon on Lake Ouachita.  Any suggestions on things to do while we are there?  Wouldn't want to miss something.

Off the top of my head:

Magic springs  (http://www.magicsprings.com)
Downtown
Garvan Gardens
Shopping (practically anywhere along central Ave)
Mountain Tower
Hiking
Mid America Museum
Bathhouse Row
Various Music Shows
Lake fun (hamilton or ouachita)
The Belle of Hot Springs (Riverboat...err...lakeboat)

You can find info  on hot springs attractions here:  http://www.urbanplan...showtopic=19769

or here http://www.urbanplan...showtopic=11755

But as I glance at those threads I just linked....they go off topic very fast.

The best source is the official Hot Springs website: hotsprings.org

Great photos of Hot Springs!  Haven't been in several years, but really would like to get back soon for a short vacation.  Hot Springs downtown has such a large collection of historical buildings.  Beautiful!  The building on the right in the photo above......that's The Arlington Hotel?

That photo of Hot Springs from the mountain tower is clearer than any I've ever taken and than most I've seen. He does a great jpb with his photos.

Look out for me, Johnny, I'll be out on a party barge on Lake Hamilton all weekend!  :shades:
