Asheville's economic development director introduced an idea for a new website for developers looking for information on city-owned property that could be available for their projects. City Council must approve the $20,000 to get the Web site online. "This is an attempt to create a tax base," Mac Williams, the economic development director said. The website would feature a map of Asheville and allow developers to look at specific areas of the city and look at real-time photos of the parcels, get measurements, and access the city land records database, along with census information on that neighborhood! The idea is to promote properties that the City Council wants to see developed. The Web site would be designed with help from focus groups, to make sure it meets the needs of it's users. A good idea that could help take a lot of property off the city's hands and place it back on the tax roles, while speeding up the process of getting things done! It can also be used by us on the forum!
