Honestly, I wouldn't be suprised, and would certainly love, to see that happen. New Orleans has always struck me as a city that would really look great in a television series, especially a crime drama, considering the real life crime issues in this city, pre and post-Katrina.
In the late 90's there was a CBS show called Orleans that was set in New Orleans, but that series went just about nowhere. Info
A few years ago, when a third CSI series was being planned, New Orleans and New York City were the final two cities considered as settings. NYC obviously won, however, which isn't very suprising.
Over the last decade, New Orleans has been featured in many television shows, but only for one episode. Hopefully K-Ville will change that in the long run!

Plans for construction of a major downtown movie studio in New Orleans have been suspended while a federal grand jury investigates the state's film tax incentives program.
Louisiana Institute of Film Technology, or LIFT Productions, also has laid off most of its staff.

Louisiana’s film industry appears headed for a record year of production in 2007, reaching the $500 million mark for the first time.
To date, Louisiana has played host to 41 completed projects — TV pilots, made-for-TV movies and feature films — and that number could reach 50 by year’s end, according to the state Office of Entertainment Industry Development.

I thought in Shreveport-Bossier it would drop off a year or two after Katrina, but I'm very happy to say that our state has proven that there is plenty to go around. Who knew!? New Orleans, Baton Rouge, and Shreveport are all busy production-wise and it's nice to see. I know 2007 was a banner year here and it looks like 2008 is already shaping up to be one as well. Actually a guy I work with has been selected to have his home and property in far north Shreveport used as a movie set for a while in January for a movie with Delta Burke in it. A friend of mine who used to manage a Chinese restaurant in Shreveport had a small part in Mr. Brooks as a Japanese businessman (he's Chinese, not Japanese.) He also had a part in Harold & Kumar II though he's not sure if it will be in the movie or not. He now has opened his very own Chinese restaurant in Arlington and I went to visit him when I was in Dallas last weekend. He was so happy when I told him I saw his short scene in Mr. Brooks and he told me all about the Harold & Kumar II scene as well. He said he never wants to be famous, he just wanted to be able to say to his kids, "look, daddy's in a movie!"

Whether it’s the mystique of the bayous, the eerie swamps or the southern hospitality, movie producers have come to Louisiana from time to time. There have been so many: “The Pelican Brief,” “The Client” and “Dead Man Walking,” just to mention a few.
But several recent initiatives have caused Hollywood to flock to Louisiana in large numbers. In 2007, more than 40 movies were partially or completely filmed in Louisiana — among them the current hit “The Great Debaters” with Denzel Washington.
“The spectacular growth in Louisiana’s film industry is rightly recognized as one of the most remarkable success stories in the business,” said Charles Richard,

Landing such films as Oliver Stone's W and Universal Pictures' Cirque du Freak, Louisiana set a production record in 2008 with more than 80 major film and television projects. The total eclipsed the previous record of 56 projects set in 2007. The activity shows Louisiana continues to grow as a filming location outside traditional production hubs in California and New York. "It's been a great year for us here in Louisiana, and we are very excited about where the industry is headed," says Chris Stelly, head of the state film office. But with the economy in a downturn, a reality check could be ahead. "We are prepared, with the current economy, for fewer movies to be made," state film office spokeswoman Amber Havens says. Still, the state does have some projects on the horizon for early 2009, including the HBO cable television series Treme which is slated to begin shooting in New Orleans in coming months.

Maybe now all those movies shot in Shreveport can stay in the state completely?? I'm stoked about the Celtic Media Centre campus in BR still growing; touted as Louisiana's first and only full service studio/sound stage complex built from the ground up....everything can stay in state instead of going back to Hollywood. Hopefully Louisiana can maintain it's #3 ranking in movies behind only California & New York!

La. film tax credits debated; Some want to up production credit to compete with other states
Louisiana’s movie industry, built on state production tax credits since 2002, was poised to be partly weaned off them — from 25 percent to 20 percent next year, and 15 percent by July 1, 2012.
But then came Michigan with a 42 percent production tax credit and, closer to home, Georgia with a 30 percent tax credit. And the game changed.
Louisiana lawmakers are considering upping the ante to 30 percent and making that rate permanent. It’s a costly gambit for a July-June financial year in which the state projected a $1.3 billion shortfall.

Good for Lafayette! An appropriate movie with all the great horse jockeys from around that area!
Look forward to any updates too.

Not much of a photographer like my wife, but more of a videographer. Unfortunately, they're mostly flying videos. I'll have to look through my stock to see if there's anything worth posting showing anything relevant to Cities in Louisiana, other than Lafayette.
