Homeland Security, starring Antonio Banderas, Meg Ryan, and Colin Hanks (son of Tom Hanks) is set to start filming in downtown Shreveport's Red River District and El Dorado Casino.

That's awesome!  Tennessee and Memphis have started to take notice of Louisiana's success at attracting movie production to the state.  There's talk of enacting similar tax breaks...

IMO, Louisiana offers more variety in the types of scenes that can be shot in the state.  So I really don't think Louisiana has anything to worry about from Tennessee.  But ya never know.  -_-

One thing I forgot to add... in the movie The Guardian, Shreveport was used as a stand-in for Kodiak, Alaska... in this new movie, Homeland Security, it will actually be set in Shreveport. So it'll be Shreveport starring as itself for a change. :)

Memphis and Nashville would both be excellent locations for movie productions, IMO, as would the rural Tennessee areas. Memphis and Nashville would likely have a lot of the necessary infrastructure and rural Tennessee has plenty of great scenery.

Good to see Shreveport keeping Hollywood South rolling! :good:

Tennessee is a pretty state.

I've got exciting news. I was looking in a local magazine at the doctor's office when I spotted an article about the Celtic Media Centre and it had a full/updated rendering of whole the complex. It showed at least 6 building with a 5 story building in the middle. I'l try to post it today or tomorrow. The article was also good, with Kip Holden saying it would rival other studios throughout the nation/world and that they visited studios used to film shows like CSI and Boston Legal.

I was at the movies this weekend and saw a preview for "Dejavu" starring Denzel Washington and was surprised to see several scenes w/ New Orleans skyline in the background.  I had no idea about this movie.

Yessir, that entire movie was filmed in New Orleans. The scene where you see the ferry exploding on the Mississippi River, well, I watched them record that scene over, and over, and over again from the Canal Place office tower at the foot of Canal Street.

Here is the preview, for anyone who's curious. It looks like a great movie, especially considering I'm a big Denxel Washington fan.

Yessss! Filming is supposed to begin in '07 on a film starring Samuel L. Jackson! No real information is given about the movie, other than the fact that it's called The Cleaner.

Damn it... why do they play games? Update: news of Samuel L. Jackson movie, herein titled Fire Breathing Komodo Dragons on a Subway but officially The Cleaner, coming to Shreveport may have been premature. It seems the AP once again jumped out and reported something too soon.

Here is the full and official trailer for the movie Déjà Vu staring Denzel Washington, and which was filmed in New Orleans. I'm really looking forward to this one, not only because you see New Orleans in every scene, but because the story looks like something that would really interest me.

I really want to see that movie. It was just incredible to me that they were showing the New Orleans skyline and bridges and maps. Something to be very proud of.  :)
By the way, has anyone seen All the Kings Men?I want to see what kind of sites they show on there.

I actually watched them film the scene involving the ferry exploding on the Mississippi River under the CCC over, and over, and over again. I watched it from the Governor Nicholls Street Wharf along the bend in the River. And it's a good thing that I knew that they were filming that scene then, because I would have been scared out of my mind of a terrorist attack if I saw a ferry crossing the river blown sky high right under the bridge that, if collapsed, could block off and shut down the entire Mississippi River for weeks.

Wow. 11/22 is the anniversary of the Kennedy assassination. That, coincidentally, is also my 7-year anniversary  at my current place of employment. :)

Well, it's official. Samuel L. Jackson WILL be in Shreveport filming his next movie, The Cleaner. This movie is being produced by the same company who is currently filming Homeland Security with Antonio Banderas and Meg Ryan in Shreveport. It's also the same company who will be filming Blonde Ambition with Jessica Simpson in Shreveport next month.
