Recently the City of Midfield has embarked on a city masterplan that will guide the city in future growth, revitalization of existing neighborhoods, and business recruitment.  Midfield seems to be the last of the older inner suburbs is not totally landlocked and fully developed like neighboring Fairfield.  It has potential.  In addition it is along the ROW of a rail line that could be used for a possible future commuter rail or light rail between Birmingham and Bessemer.
