I am interested in learning what cities everyone has been to as a tourist, not on business or visiting family.  What places did you study about in advance and then take a vaction at for no other reason than to enjoy yourself?  If you feel the family ties are necessary because you planned both in coordination, that is okay as well.

Florida:
Lake Wales (grandfather lived down there), Tampa, Panama City, Orlando, Daytona Beach, the cities around the Space Center, St. Augustine
South Carolina:
Greenville, Anderson, Charleston, Beaufort, Myrtle Beach, Hilton Head Island, Columbia
North Carolina:
Charlotte, Asheville, Outer Banks, Cherokee
