TVA's lease on it building on S. Broad St. expires this year.  They are looking at other buildings for the 2600 employes that work there.  They are looking for an existing or build to suit building in Chattanooga City limits, or the same as above but on TVA property in Chattanooga.  The specifications they want are: Class A, 47500 sq ft. for speciality engineering, and commercial parking nearby.

I hope they stay downtown.  I think it will be a blow to the city if they don't.

Has TVA just found themselves in a building to large now?

Yes, the current building is way too large for their needs. Cigna leases almost half of the current building.

If the Chattanooga officials can keep Blue Cross Blue Shield downtown then I feel pretty good about TVA staying in the area.

What is the size of the Downtown TVA Complex, what kind of shape is it in, and who owns the building since TVA only leases?

Yes, and TVA has decided to buy it for 22 million.  So they won't be moving.

The City of Chattanooga also offered to build them a parking garage but no action has been taken.  The mayor however, wants to go ahead with it.  Citing it was part of the deal, and low construction costs due to the economy.

The city is considering completing the Trade & Convention Center's lot or building a new garage on the lot bounded by 10th, 11th, Broad and Market, the former site of the Civic Forum.  The latter site would allow Patton Towers to have access to parking which may help with a potential condo renovation.
