News that DAAC is closing is bad news for South Division...but maybe it'll return in some form closer to the Meanwhile...

I don't get why they closed. So there were some fire safety violations, so what? fix em. Close for the time being, make the building safer, and then open again. Is there something I'm missing? :dontknow:

I was at the show last night when the fire marshalls came in.  I also talked with Jeff for a bit last night.  Actually it has been a while coming.  Big Kudos to Jeff for keeping it open as long as he did.  I know he came out of his pocket a lot to make rent.

Look for a new venue to open sometime in the area, possibly with a liquor license.

It was a GREAT show last night.  La Dispute was great.

No more billboards?

http://blog.mlive.co...nneighborh.html

Interesting idea.  Would you trade off neighborhood billboards for bright, electronic ones along the highways?

Stopped in the Meanwhile on Sunday afternoon while walking the
neighborhood (and waiting for our Sandman's ribs to come off
the grill).

Friendly bartender, friendly customers, great early 80's music.
On vinyl, no less.  Very, very cool.

But even with both the front and back doors open the place smelled
like a big ashtray.  I suggested that maybe they make the new patio
a non-smoking area.  I know I'd be there a lot more.

In The Meanwhile's defense, even places that I don't consider overly smoky (i.e.: McFadden's) smell like ashtrays on Sundays when they first open.  Saturday nights reek havoc on the air quality.  I don't know if this is the case here, but yeah...

Did we skip over that land mass near St Ignace, or is it just out of frame?

I drove by this and was wondering the same thing. Check this site out.

http://www.scanmichigan.com/ and select live scanner. It's slightly addicting, but you get to hear all the stuff going on in GR and Wyoming.
