It's been a month since the last interior pics.  How are things coming along in there?  When can I ride over for a beer?? :D

You can ride over anytime, but it is byob at this point.  It is ok to just stop by and look for me or bear manor man and we will take you through.  I will ask him to get some photos on here, I would but can't find the film in his fancy pants camera to develope and tape to the screen and he yells at me everytime I try to open it up to find it.

FYI, the link to UrbanPlanet from http://www.frictionr....net/meanwhile/ doesn't work.

Looks good with the new windows in the front by the way.

So what did everybody think?  Any questions about the project that you didn't get a chance to ask today?

I think it's going to be great.  What's up with the old bars?  Will they be used (or at least part of them)?

P.S. Thanks guys for letting us come through!

That was my question too. Is the bar going to be refurbished? I liked the "icebox" hinges on the lower cabinets. Looks like the top needs some work.

Also, the beer garden- is that going to be out the back door or is it on the patio (that already has pavers) to the west of the building? If so, are you popping a hole in the side?

I'm pretty sure the beer garden is in back.   The lot to the west is owned by the Image Shoppe (the building just north of the empty lot).  I was curious about your statement that you might not carry any bud or miller products.  While I applaud your intentions to stay local, does that mean there will be no inexpensive beers on tap?

RapidGrowth has an article about the brick patio garden on the corner (which as twoshort said is not owned by Bear Manor):

I like the renovation so far.  It's still a bit early to visualize the interior space, but it's a great addition to that neighborhood.

FYI: There are plenty of inexpensive beers that still get made in small batches.

Last time I was in Wisconsin I had some Huber Bock Beer.  Still cheap-as-heck, still far better than your average Budweiser and it has that "Hey wasn't that stuff $7/case when I was in college" coolness to it.

Wisconsin seems to be home of the cheap-but-micro-brewed breweries.  Point brewing in Stevens Point wisconsin makes Point Special Lager.  That stuff, while being slightly better than Bud, is actually cheaper.

Yes, the beer garden will be out back.  Jeff is working with Tom Roeters to design concrete table tops, and a cast bar for back there.  It should be very unique, quite hip.  Apparently as a development of a contact made at the lunch and learn, the ground will be paved by brick reclaimed from the Busch Building renovation.  Very cool.
The original front bar is solid cherry, you bet we're refurbishing that.  The coolers cabinets will be retro fitted with new fridges, and used in the back bar.  The tall shelf portion of the back bar was gone when we got the building, too nasty to save.

If they have more extra bricks than you need send them my way. Next week is my first landscaping project as a homeowner. :)

Hi Jeff,

Walsh Construction is in the process of taking out the loading dock floor (which is full of brick pavers).  I have set a full pallet of pavers outside the main entrance of 72 Grandville Ave, SW (Icehouse)  It would be great if you all could begin to move them to the proposed  Beer Garden...If your available today...I would send a crew down to take as many of the pavers you can fit on a truck, that Walsh is ripping out currently.  The building will be open all day!!  You may reach me on my cell 616.510.1592

Sorry for the short notice...but I wanted to pipe up...because the pavers that are being removed currently are is the best of shape!!  The total Sq Ft of flooring being demoed today is around 1,000 Sq Ft :)

Hurry Hurry Hurry.

Thanks Justin

Perhaps it would be better to contact them directly since you are in a time crunch:

Yes, there's this thread here.  The Ice House discussion starts near the bottom of the first page.  They hosted a tour during renovations, and Justin is planning a follow up tour soon (?).
